Challenge Submission The Excavation of a Heart

Don't! Please! It hurts!

The scrape of a touch, the brush of fingertips, the pressure of air from pursed lips continues anyway.

It's dangerous! Stop!

The crust and dust crumble away, the light cracking through as the accumulation is shifted away anyway

I don't want this!

The tug at the corner of a curious mouth. The inability to contain the delighted laughter that bubbles to the surface.

Careful! It's too broken!

The shock of a gentle caress. The shift from a long clung to nook in an inhospitable cave to a place of comfort.

Safe? or a trick?

The lingering and longing looks. The tentative sigh of admiration. A careful curated cultivation of repair.

Just perhaps...

Happiness.
