April 18, 1938. In our world, the first comic featuring Superman, the first superhero, graced newsstands. In another world, that date marks the emergence of the first hero from the shadows.

When the news headlines popped up in every major newspaper in the world, it was evident, everything was about to change. Governments around the world scrambled to defend themselves, or even to create a superhuman of their own.

The first superhuman wasn’t lonely for long. Others quickly popped up across the world. The world order was quickly reshuffled, with countries possessing a superhuman quickly climbing to the top of the pile. World War II showed the changing face of combat in this brave new world, and afterwards many heroes chose to retire.

In the 1960s, a new and more populous generation of supers changed the world again, would the surviving heroes from the original crop remain relevant?

Hi there. I’m looking for a partner to write an entirely original story focusing on the first hero in an emerging superhero universe. Through that, I want to explore the impact of superhumans on society at large.

My initial pitch is that the first hero will be a woman with a sort of “Superman lite” powerset. I’m picturing the hub city as San Francisco (New York has had too many superhero stories already). I’d like to start with her first appearance and origin, move onto her getting used to being a hero, have her life uprooted by WWII, and then show her readjustment to life after that. But I’m happy to entertain other ideas.

This is a historical story, and I want it to be as historically accurate as possible, and informed by the history of superhero comics. Please be prepared for the research that goes along with this role.

A little bit about me, I’m James, I’m 26, and I’m based in the Pacific time zone of North America. I’d say I tend to write 4 to 8 paragraphs, unless it’s a back-and-forth dialogue. Ideally, both of us will play several characters, and I am looking for someone to share in the plotting, character creation, and worldbuilding duties of the role.

If you’ve read this far, and the story seems interesting to you, please message me with your favorite superhero and why you love them.
