I don't usually post request threads with only one idea, but this one has been haunting me for a while and I REEEALLY need a partner for it.
Setting is realistic dystopian with a dash of medieval fantasy. Now you're probably wondering just how that works. Simple-we will be playing in two different worlds. A real world and a virtual reality world. I am looking to play one or two characters each. If there's romance involved (I welcome it if it's organic to the story) I will only play MxF. Now I can play two females or a male and a female, doesn't really matter to me. The challenging bit is that all characters have their real life profile and their game profile.
I'll give details in PM, but in a nutshell the real world is like a cross between 1984 and Divergent, and the game world is similar to Log Horizon or a Final Fantasy type world. If you are unfamiliar with any or all of the above, don't panic. I can explain everything and it's a lot less complicated than it sounds. Caste-based government controlled drudgery in the waking world, complete and utter freedom in the virtual dream world, basically. Only game and real world currency are exactly the same thing, and if you don't live up to society's standards you're pretty much kicked out of it and lose everything.
It's the one hundredth anniversary of the game, there's a big celebration, lots of quests and events and rare items, the whole nine yards. But behind the scenes the four godlike AIs called "Entities" that run the game are in a panic because it isn't listening to them anymore. The game itself has, at some point, achieved self-awareness and is ready to start acting out in its own interests.
So, yeah, highly specific craving here, just for this one particular story. Now what we do with it is completely open. Overthrow the government? Beat the game - literally? Incite the NPCs to revolt? Just try to survive both worlds? Do our characters find love, adventure, mystery, meaning, something unexpected? It can and has been played many different ways. But due to time constraints and attention span, I'll only be able to do one RP of this at a time.
And no, not going to turn it into a multiplayer. Those have too short a life and too long a wait to get anywhere. Otherwise though I welcome your questions, critique, additions, and input.
