Autumnal The Haunted House Escape - OPEN - Anyone can join in at any time!

[[ @Jumbled Action: I climb up the steps as much as I can and test to see if the floating planks can bear weight]]

[Jumbled]

Alex checks the volume with the letter A, but the book seems fairly ordinary. It seems less wild, or haunted, than the previous books. He fans through the pages to see if anything might be tucked away or bookmarked, but there's nothing of note.

Tor takes the opportunity to move up the stairs, hoping his height advantage might allow him to reach the steps that are floating and covered in ghostly green glows. It's chilly up there, and as Tor gets closer, a blood-curdling shriek fills the room and an apparition of a woman appears in front of him. Her scream is so powerful that before anyone can even think to react, those on the stairs finds themselves on the ground, sitting on the floor.

Spoiler: Recap on the Findings so far.

● The gargoyle has 3 vertical slots in the podium. Top hole has III, middle IX, bottom IV

● The first portrait is labeled Henry Boyd (I haven't done a description for him, I didn't want to add details that might confuse or mislead, but soon I'll type up some descriptions!)

● The coffee table had a jewelry (Music!) box, the bottom was not flush, a single ruby earring is inside of it. There was a key to the desk inside. The winding key fit on the box and it can play music! Strangely, when the music chimes, it seems to have a reaction in the house, because a creepy humming is heard after it's played.

● Book volumes left on the shelf were A-D-E-H-S.

● Book D was explored, it seems enchanted. A was explored, seems fairly ordinary.

● Book H was explored, it has a lot to say about Hades and also has a cut-out to hide things.

● There is a safe, it was opened code: H-A-D-E-S.

● Inside the safe you all found $3, a wooden block with a VI.

● ... And a Note which reads:

THE UNDERWORLD LAYAWAY AGREEMENT

By decree of the underworld:

In exchange for preforming soul deals and life extension, the tenants shall pay a recurring monthly fee of exactly $4.00.

● There are business cards in the desk top drawers (not examined further)

● There was a leather journal in the desk top drawers (not examined further)

● The typewriter came alive once the key was used on the desk. Hades sent a note, which seems like the longer version of the ripped paper found in the safe earlier. There seems to be a heat radiating from the chair by the desk.

● Two drawers are unlocked, but they weren't open because the typewriter came alive and startled everyone. RIGHT??? YOU WERE ALL STARTLED?!? Totally.

(Im really glad everything went well!)

(Also, lets put all the gargoyle things in order, just in case)

[Alex Gold]

Yeah, first we need to find the Gargoyle things. Plus the wooden block we found is a VI which isn't in any of the Gargoyle niches. I wonder if we need to put $4 somewhere as a payment. Not sure where though.

[Rei.]

[[ @Jumbled Action: I get over the jumpcare of the typewriter suddenly typing out a message, and actually open the two unlocked drawers, trying to find the wooden cubes, or whatever is in them. I also call over @Sonder_ , and suggest that she take the journal and maybe give it a read.]]

[Sonder_]

(Haha, I really wish I can, but I got to wait two more turns until I can do an action again . Or do you calling me over to do something in your action count as one action on your side? )

[Rei.]

(oops. I got too invested in it, I'd sort of forgot about checking your turn order. fine ~ if someone else takes up the journal before you get a turn, just pretend ya didn't hear me because you were busy investigating something else)

[Jumbled]

Rei investigates the desk drawers, and while one is emptied out and in need of a good wipe down, the other holds a wooden block on the inside that has a smooth cut-out shaped like "III"

[Jumbled]

For my regular players, I am okay if you reduce your response time to every 3 turns if you're feeling so inclined. If more people come in, just be considerate and let them have some turns, but since we're slower than room one, I'm okay with this!

[Fira]

[[ @Jumbled Action: I take a look at the business cards]]

[Fira]

So we have 2 of the cubes for the gargoyle…remember the numbers on the blocks will be backwards to fit into the groves

[Jumbled]

Picking up one of the business cards, you read the back of it:

[[@Jumbled action: I look through the E volume]]

[Jumbled]

Alex checks the E volume and the pages flip around, stopping as it opens to reveal a dried plant that was pressed into the book.

There's a circle drawn around the subject of the page titled "Enchanter's Nightshade." You see a general chunk of text with information. You make a note that it does mention older uses for things like Love potions & Aphrodisiacs, spells of Attraction and Binding.

There aren't any notes scribbled in the margins, but you carefully place it down with some of your other discovered objects just in case a use for it comes up later.

[Torack]

[[ @Jumbled freaked out from the stairs, I decide to look through book S instead, my hands shaking]]

[Jumbled]

Tor checks the last volume, S, and finds another memo about soul-bonds from Hades, the same mention of $4 a month.

There is a single dollar inside of the book with a name Dorian Sloan scrawled across the back in nice calligraphy.

[Alex Gold]

Was there anything under the entry of the "Enchanter's nightshade" ? Im guessing it isnt important

[Jumbled]

Yeah, sure!~ I'll edit it into the post for that book but here:

[[ Action: @Jumbled I inspect the leather bound journal inside the desk. I am nervous, but curious ]]
