Yeah you guys only have one earring, and that was from the music/jewelry box, it's in your inventory. But you haven't seen a second one.

Sorry guys. I'm just a bit under the weather but I'll be back when I can! Hopefully later tonight πŸ’œ

Sonder shakes off the paranormal abuse and walks over to the book with the hidden compartment. She yanks the $4 from @wine's pocket and then shoves it into the book after noting that each of the bills has a name scribbled on the back side of them.

The gargoyle looks on, satisfied with such a choice, and the book snaps shut like an eager mouth. A warm glow radiates over the book.

The typewriter keys begin clacking and a new sheet of paper is magically in place of the last one.

Thank you for your deposit of $4.

Interest Rates and Late fees demand compensation. If you want to get out of this house with your own souls in tact, return all of the soul shards Loretta Boyd has hidden in the house.

The Gargoyle perks up and looks over to Rei.

"Loretta traveled and made deals. In return for a fragment of their soul which she would then bind to a dollar bill, she would grant them their wishes or preform rituals. It's not exactly a deal with the devil, so it was a sort of loop-hole that she used-- soul magic to keep herself and her husband alive for many, many years.

"Hades, not fond of anyone creeping into the soul business, allowed Loretta to carry out her business so long as she returned 4 soul fragments a month. You see, if a person dies, but part of their soul isn't with them, then Hades cannot collect. It's messy really."

The gargoyle yawned lazily.

"Loretta had a fondness for putting fragments of souls into items, but with her clients it was always the dollar bill. With herself on the other hand..."

Not really, no. I don't mind if you guys just talk, the gargoyle might occasionally have something to say!

The earring is dropped into the book, the cover snaps shut like before, and then it glows similarly to the way it did when the money disappeared.

Suddenly a side drawer on the desk slides open with a startling noise and the earring is spit back out onto the floor.

The typewriter activates with hasty letters smashing down and ink pressing to the paper.

All transactions must be in the form of bank notes infused with soul fragments.

Alex attempts to move through the green barrier but it's like touching ice. The ghost shrieks and Alex is propelled away from the passage.

The gargoyle watches then stops to lick its paw.

"She's quite strong in her current state. You'll have to weaken her hold on the manor if you hope to explore beyond this room, I suspect."

The rest of the cash, all having names scribbled on them, are placed into the book.

The typewriter comes alive again and a new paper reads:
