Hi there,
I'll be quick summing myself up, but I've worked on my writing quite a bit to get it to a level of quality I really enjoy. I go for both quality and quantity and I'm hoping for a partner that has a similar writing style to myself. I write third person/past tense. 500 words is usually my minimum but depending on the scene it can vary quite a bit. I usually get closer to 800 words but can go 1000+. I like solid writing but I'm not a stickler for perfect grammar and typos don't bother me. Gods know I make mistakes. As long as your writing isn't riddled with them and you've put good effort in, then I'm happy! I really just need a partner that pushes the story forward because I will definitely be pushing us in the direction we decide on together, I just don't want to be the only one moving the story along. I'm a big fan of fantasy, romance, adventure, and slow burns.
Expectations/Preferences for you and myself
-500 word minimum per post. My range is 500-1500+ depending on the scene.
-Third person/past tense
-Communication (For both plotting and just general communication about wait times between posts)
-Posts like once a week, more if possible of course, but this is a hobby and it should be fun. No pressure. Just let me know so I'm not constantly checking for updates.
-18+ themes like sex, drugs, violence, ect... I like detailed writing so things will get nitty gritty.
-A solid story that also includes smut where it fits. I don't have a preferred ratio but I'm big on sexual tension and slow burns that sometimes erupt suddenly. It should be organic if our characters have chemistry.
I often post more than once a week. If I am really hyped on a story I'll be checking for replies throughout the day and if I'm not at work I'll usually write back right away. If I plan to take longer I try to communicate that.
I enjoy writing male characters that have that brooding, hates the world energy that also have a soft spot for that one person. Someone who comes off as standoffish and prickly towards everyone except her. He can go from glaring and threatening one minute to soft and gentle the next, but that sort side only shows for her. In my 'Envy of the Gods'(Link in signature) story I wrote a demigod who could kill with just his touch. Mortals and Gods both feared him, but when it came to his love interest he was kind and soft. But that switch always flipped quickly one way or another depending on the situation. He was such a tortured soul and the whole story was angsty haha but the contrast between who he was with her and who he showed the rest of the world was really fun to write.
I'm big into fantasy, romance, and adventure. I like there to be an overarching plot that our characters are driving along, but I don't like sticking to a rigid storyline. I like to set an objective but getting there isn't a straight line. There are always little misadventures and side plots happening along the way. Lots of chaos at times and situations that force our characters to build trust and understanding. I also love smut, but only when it's written in properly. I love the slow burn that eventually erupts in a desire filled frenzy if that makes sense.
Onto the story idea!
The Maiden's Shadow
In a land of restless peace there is one tradition that holds the world in balance. The sacrifice of the Maiden.
Centuries ago the world was at war with darkness, with Demons. Humanity was barely clinging on to existence when a group of heroic Paladins and Priests managed to put a magic seal over the portal leading to the Demon realm. It was a turning point for all of humanity. People were able to cast their fears aside and live in peace, but that peace only lasted so long. The seal began to weaken and despite the efforts of the church and their mages, they were unable to repair it. It wasn't until a brave Priestess offered her own blood to the seal that the weakening stopped. And from then on a new tradition was born.
Every ten years the seal begins to weaken, and every ten years a Holy Maiden offers her blood as sacrifice. But through the years this ritual has been carefully constructed to ensure each sacrifice is successful, because sadly, not all of them were.
The sacrifice must be a Maiden, one of the most devout blood. Born and raised within the church, taught the scriptures from a young age, and fully immersed in the teachings of the church. When she is selected she must go on a pilgrimage across the land, stopping at every major temple along a set path. At each she must pray and be further embraced by the gods, gaining their blessings as she travels towards her end goal, the Demonic Seal.
She doesn't make this journey alone though. Despite her noble efforts there are those that seek to stop the Maiden from reaching her goal. Cultists target the Maiden on each journey, seeking to release their demon lords back into the mortal realms. Some rebel groups seek to stop the sacrifices all together, seeing them as pointless bloodshed for an old outdated tradition. Then there are regular hazards like bandits, wild animals, and creatures that live throughout the land. So, at the beginning of each journey the Maiden is assigned a Shadow.
Shadows are warriors specifically trained to escort Maidens throughout their pilgrimage. Their origins are a mystery, but their reputations are well known. "The Wolves of The Church" are what some people call them due to their odd tradition of wearing wolf masks. They are known to always be masked, it is considered a great sin to look one in the eye or to look upon their faces because they are meant to be nothing but shadows, nothing but loyal servants protecting their Maiden until the end of their journey. There are rumours about why they remain masked. Some speculate that their faces are horribly injured from years of battle. Others believe they are secretly royalty or high ranking within the church. Others don't dare to even question it. Shadows are known to be cold blooded killers, drawing their sword against anyone who even steps in the Maiden's path. Not only are they quick to fight, but they are also known to be extremely skilled at it. Their speed and strength is almost inhuman... and perhaps that is because they aren't human. But no one dares speak those words above hushed whispers and fearful speculation.
In reality, Shadows aren't human. They are half demon remnants from wars gone by. Fragments of the reality the world faced only a couple hundred years ago. They remain masked to hide their red eyes and sharp canines. The church cannot allow anyone to know demons still remain in the mortal world, but not just that. They can't let anyone know that humans once copulated with demons and gave birth to these half breed monsters. To keep them hidden the church takes them in from families too horrified and shamed to tell anyone else about it. The demon blood runs thin nowadays, but they still exist in some bloodlines. And when a child is born with red eyes the church is quick to swoop in and offer an easy out for the horrified parents. They take these children and raise them, reminding them they are monsters and abominations, and the only way to repent is by escorting a Maiden on their pilgrimage.
Raum is a half demon raised within the Shadow subsidiary of the Church. Every decade the most promising Maiden and Shadow are paired together for the pilgrimage, and this time he has been chosen. It is seen as a great honour and a chance at repenting for his worst sin, being born. It has been engrained in him that this is his duty and he intends to complete it no matter what. Shadows have failed in the past, maidens have been slain before reaching the alter, and he refuses to fail. But unlike the maiden, Raum has seen the darker sides of their holy fathers. The deception, the greed, the lies... He has seen it all. Maidens are purposely kept ignorant, purposely kept 'pure' and untainted by the darker inner-workings of the church. But the Shadows have no such luxury. They are given very specific rules to fallow during a pilgrimage. Protect the maiden at all costs, Hide your face at all times, Speak nothing of the Shadow, and most important of all... upon success or failure of the pilgrimage end your life.
Raum intends to see this journey through to the end, but first he needs to meet his Maiden.
Now, I know 'Maiden' makes her sound pure and helpless, but her personality would be completely up to you. whether she's stubborn, demanding, standoffish, rude, inquisitive, quiet, shy, naïve, whatever haha I leave that completely open. I plan for Raum to be broody and quiet, but protective and vicious when it comes to defending her. I also plan for more secrets of the Church to be revealed throughout the story. More sick and twisted lies that have been kept from both of them, truths about these 'traditions' that have never been exposed. I also plan for Raum to be exposed for what he is eventually. His trust is hard to earn but once she has it, she truly has it. I plan for demons, especially Raum, to have an almost obsessive protective nature where he always wants to be by her side, truly like a shadow. I also love size differences so I plan for him to be like six foot six or something wild like that haha I like writing a male character where the female character just reached his chest in height. Their love would be forbidden since he is meant to be her protector, taking her to her death. Duty calls to them both, but their feelings for each other will definitely complicate things. They are not meant to be together. Where she is light, he is dark. Where the world holds the Maiden up as a savour and honoured peace bringer, the shadow is looked at as more of a terrifying knight that lurks behind her.
If this sounds liek your jam then please message me. This isn't first come first serve, I want tow rite with someone I really vibe with.
Thanks!
