Spoiler: Game Premise

In the Kanto region, many legends have been told of the Lavender Town Pokémon gym. Legends state that when it was still around, it was the strongest gym in the entire region. The gym leader, who specialized in Ghost types, was so strong the even some members of the Elite Four had trouble beating her, and she never lost. The gym leader was so strong that it was rumored she even had legendary and mythical Pokémon on her team, though few people even got past the first Pokémon she sent out to confirm this.

Then one day, seemingly overnight, the gym leader along with her gym, disappeared.

It's been several decades, but those who were supposedly around when the gym existed are no longer living. With no real confirmation of its existence, the gym has become part of urban legend, at least until recently. In the past few months, the gym has been appearing around the world, staying in one place for only a day or two before disappearing and reappearing in a completely different region. However, the most puzzling thing is that after the gym disappears so do the strongest trainers in the area. Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, and even Champions have disappeared without a trace. Searching for clues also proves difficult, because after the gym disappears Pokémon in the area where the gym appeared become overwhelmingly powerful.

The disappearance of powerful trainers has caused researchers to stop giving new trainers a starter Pokémon and for gyms to close their doors, thus stopping the creation of new champions in regions where the current champion has disappeared. It's for this very reason that Bill, the world-famous Pokémon researcher, and creator of the Pokémon Storage System has started to look for a team to solve the mystery of the Lavender Town Gym, and hopefully, recover trainers, who like the gym did long ago, disappear without a trace.

Brief History: Shortly after achieving victory in the Silver League, Chris accepted a position as a scout for the Battle Frontier, and worked out of Blackthorn City for 2 years. At that time, it was decided he could handle greater responsibility. He was made a Brain of the Battle Frontier and given Glitter Lighthouse of Olivine City as his facility. Atop the lighthouse tower, he often battles trainers who come looking for guidance after suffering defeat at the hands of Jasmine, the Olivine City Gym Leader. Beginner or veteran, Chris is a big believer in the power of a Pokémon battle to help a trainer work through their own stress and challenges: on or off the field.

Brief History: Ollie's dream was to become a Pokemon Trainer's teacher. After becoming the Sinnoh league champion, Olwen traveled through the different regions observing other trainers in battle, before she eventually returned home to Snowpoint City and began teaching at the Training Academy. In her time at the academy, she hasn't stopped learning. Ollie studies pokemon behaviours and how they affect the interactions with their trainers and vice versa. She plans on writing a book one day, but she wants to make another trip to gather more information.

Name: William Holmes
Age: 25
Appearance: William Holmes appears as a pale man of average height and build with brown eyes (covered by red contacts) and straight black hair with streaks of gray (due to stress). His usual attire typically consists of a white short-sleeved dress-shirt, a dark-colored long coat with an equally dark pair of slacks, and a trilby hat. He is recognizable for the bandages that cover more than half of his face (keeping those fractured bones together for healing), and a detachable cloak on his right that conceals his metallic prosthetic arm. He seems to have a grim look on whatever one could perceive from his mummy-like facade.

Hometown: Spikemuth City
Brief History: A former Pokemon Champion who only pursued the position of Champion to earn a living for himself. After being defeated, and having to step down from his position as a result, he decided to work for Macro Cosmos as an alternative means to earn income. He was involved in a vehicular accident that rendered him comatose for several years but he has now fully recovered and is finding a good opportunity to get a firm grasp on his long-untouched skills.

Age: 23
Description: Maya was a trainer that never thought life would turn out the way it did. Born somewhat sickly, Maya never got to play with other children when she was younger, her health being a liability. However, when she was a bit older and healthy enough to travel, she was sent to live with relatives in Lacunosa town, her parents thinking the fresh air there would do her good. They were right, and soon Maya was healthier than she had ever been before. As her health improved, so did her beauty, and soon Maya was considered one of the most beautiful girls in town. Even though Maya has to wear couture gowns because of her job, her style is more bohemian and she prefers to wear clothes that have personality. However, since Maya is only 5'3", she always wears high heels, enjoying the boost of height they give her. She's worn them so much that now feels completely comfortable in them, at least more than flats.
Hometown: Lacunosa Town, Unova, though originally born in Castelia City.
Region: Kalos
Brief History: Maya Coons was born in the Unova region, but decided not to battle gyms until she visited the Kalos region one day. At the time she only had two Pokémon, Deino and Ralts, but throughout her journey, she proved to be an impressive battler and soon found herself competing in the Kalos League and winning on her first try. Maya stayed in Kalos and protected her status of Champion for a few years before she decided to hand the reins to someone else.
Since retiring as Champion Maya has moved back to Unova but now resides in Nimbasa City and has become an accomplished model - greater than even the likes of Elesa. She still battles from time to time, but most of the time these are exhibition matches that are organized by the Pokémon League. Nevertheless, Maya hardly ever loses but doesn't mind bearing the title of ex-Champion. Maya has been looking for the next big thing as of late but has been following the story of the missing trainers closely.
