~EVERYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE IS REAL~
~THE VIRGIN'S SUICIDE~
"And then the sun rose over the hills as dark as a red-red rose." As she said it, it
happened.
"And then a young man rode down the hill on a white horse. He was 23 years old. His
blond hair was tussled and tumbled just how I like it. His eyes twinkled in the dim light
of the rising sun, one brown and one green. His shoulders broad, and his torso long. His
legs thick and holding firmly to his mare's flanks. Not too thick. Oh no, this won't do, he
must be lean, not muscled or grizzled like a bear. His skin must be smooth while his
features sharp yet gentle. He can have a slight scar on his left cheek…perhaps from a
fight with a ravenous cougar. Yes, this is lovely." As she said this, a young man on his
white horse appeared over the distant hill. His hair was indeed tousled and his eyes were
in fact, one brown, and one green. A small scar was visible on his left cheek, all as she
had said.
"And then the young man, spotting a ring of gold hidden amongst the blades of
summertime grass, dismounted his horse. He picked up the ring and just then, as he
looked up, he saw her. The maiden of his dreams, he was sure she was an angel. He
let fall a lone and solitary tear of happiness and then walked to the girl. The mare
waited behind, for she would go no further" And of course, he went to her.
"And then he kissed her." He did.
"And then he embraced her." So it happened.
"And then he got down on his knee and asked her to be his wife."
"Will you be my wife?"
"Oh yes."
"And then he placed the ring of gold on her finger and kissed her once more. Having
found real love, their lives were complete. They no longer needed life, and though
the girl cherished it, the young man did not. He killed himself right then. A knife had
been hidden under his belt, under his shirt. He used it and he died, slowly and
quietly. Overcome with the joy of love and the grief of her lover's death the maiden
began to cry. Her bittersweet tears choked her. And with her love in her arms, her
heart stopped beating."
And so it happened.
