This is information regarding the world that the thread will take place in. It is designed to help give a firm grasp of the world around the characters and should help create the best characters possible.

This is an Urban Fantasy – The date should be roughly current without the chaos of current politics and pandemics.

Inspired by and to help better grasp the concept of this world. (Patricia Brigs / Shayne Silvers / Laurell K Hamilton / Vampire the Masquerade / Werewolf the apocalypse / World of Darkness / Hunters

Let us get started on some of the inhabitants of this world

THE UNDEAD

The undead should be once-living creatures or animated creatures that are driven by supernatural forces.

*ZombiesYep they are around, Necromancers would argue that they are needed in fact. While rare it should be noted that such things do exist in the world.
*GhoulsUnlike D&D think more along the lines of a vampire Ghoul, a human who lives off vampire blood. They are slightly stronger, live longer, and have a higher endurance then most however they tend to decay and rot over extended periods of time. The more they feed the more they want it like an addict that can't get enough, this will get even stop foods stop becoming tasteful or needed.
*LichJust like it sounds, an Undead whose soul is trapped within a phylactery they may have done this themselves or had it done to them. They should typically be a wizard in their prior life that however is not required. The main problem with a lich is that they are so difficult to kill because unless you find that phylactery they will in time simply rebuild, reassemble, and or reform.
*Ghost & WraithsYes these things should be considered a reality in this Urban Fantasy world. There are already millions of stories about ghosts and wraiths so not much needs to be said here.
*VampiresI considered making this a topic all on its own. Let us get started, Think of VtM only remove clans completely.
…They each should have unique gifts that are specialized for them. Perhaps one is strong, but another may simply be able to influence the mind, another might be able to fade into shadows. The choice of powers is up to whoever is designing the vampire at the time.
…Vampires should be mostly immune to normal weapons; they can heal over damage etc. using their blood. This does not make them indestructible just exceedingly difficult to kill. The real problem would come in from supernatural damage like – werewolves/vampire/fangs/magic – etc. When this type of damage is inflicted on them, it should be treated like damage that would be inflicted on a human. Meaning it does not heal quickly and has negative effects from wounded areas.
…The Sun, is dangerous for a vampire, it is not a cloud of immediate dust-like effect and instead is more like catching on fire. The sun would be considered supernatural damage to a vampire so treat it the same as if a human suddenly caught on fire.
…Most faith-bound objects will not bother a vampire the main exception to this should be in the hands of a trained hunter or faithful. We are not talking about a young girl holding out a symbol, I mean an all believing "blank" seeing kind of faith that is unshakeable. Faith relicts and other things might affect a vampire depending on who wields them. For example, Faithful water might not do anything tossed by a random person. Faithful water tossed by a hunter should have negative effects.
…Vampires do not sleep, as the sun comes out, they are not forced to suddenly die, however, the drive to do so should be quite strong. They can however fight this and stay awake though the risk of doing such should always be present.
…Vampires don't sparkle – as the undead is unknown in this urban fantasy they monitor and police themselves, as popularity grows legends and books have become more popular like sparkling vampires.
…Vampire society is ruled by a mixture of Aristocracy and Absolute Monarchy. There are leaders in each city and under them are more leaders etc. etc. a nice tree of who is who. Vampires follow this chain of command which creates their own internal politics.
…Vampires & Werewolves are bitter rivals. The hate between them is remarkably strong. One might compare it to Werewolves being the embodiment of life & Vampires being the embodiment of death. Because they can seriously hurt each other there is a silent uneasy truce between them. Most Werewolves are physically stronger and faster than vampires though not all vampires. However, vampires have their own advantages when dealing with werewolves from their gifts to their swarms of underhanded tactics and ghouls, etc.
More information can be given/made up as needed, what's important here is to understand that they are a big part of society and govern themselves.
…VAMPIRES ARE EVIL, while there might be a very rare exception to this, that style of vampire would likely be hunted by its own kind. Vampires are predators they live off human blood they do not need to kill their victim, but they are built for lies, and deceit and they are not a brooding high schooler socializing with their food.

HUNTERS
Hunters are typically humans, a type of group designed for one purpose killing supernaturals. They are remarkably good at this and amazingly effective learning the hidden weakness of particular creatures. In this regard think of Hunter's world of darkness, Supernatural, and vampire hunter D. the concept of a hunter should be simple enough. What makes them dangerous isn't some supernatural power though there might be supernatural hunters. It is their unwavering dedication and resolves to finish what they start. A werewolf fights a vampire they square off and battle it out etc. It's a fight, a hunter however tracks the prey finds out more about them their group the lifestyle, weaknesses but physical and mental. Then one dang Bang a building blows up or boom a shot is fired at max distance. Hunters should always be feared and luckily are rare as most supernatural's will work together if needed to hunt these people down and kill them before their whole world is destroyed.

FAITHFUL
This is not so much about a particular religion though most would argue that. It is more about pure faith in something beyond understanding. That faith can give strength and even defend against things that are evil. The faithful will often hire others be them hunters, supernatural's, etc. to do the "blanks" work. Providing them funds and other such things to help with the task. Pure faithful are extremely rare, and because of this, they are wildly unknown. We are not talking about a simple "church" this is more of an unwavering ability to bring the grace of "blank" down on those who would disturb the natural order of things. Faithful are dangerous to all kinds of supernatural's because they do not fit into the mold created by "blank" or reborn in "blanks image" they don't follow the "rebirth" process. So, they shouldn't be underestimated though their greatest enemy is without a doubt the Undead.

FAY
Typically when you say the word FAY people think of pixies and fairies and such, which is fine but should not be limited to this. In this Urban Fantasy, FAY takes the bulk of species being anything that cannot be easily identified in other categories. For example, you might see Trolls / Dryads / Elves / Centaurs / Doppelgangers, etc. all bundled up in the FAY category. Their powers and abilities are limited to your imagination, but they should have some weaknesses
Most if not all FAY should be weak against Iron. Most of their race was killed off with the new age and Iron was the main cause of it. There are some FAY that can resist it but otherwise, it should be treated as supernatural when dealing with damage or dealing with iron.
Almost all FAY has something called a glamor – they needed this to pass as humans and it should be taught to them as a child. This glamor should be as easy as putting on clothing requiring little to no effort to slip into and out of this illusion. Which is what it is. While Humans (Regulars) Cannot see through it neither can cameras and other such things. Some magic users can dispel it / Werewolves can smell past it / Some vampires can see beyond it / and other FAY can sense it.
--Some FAY are known to the humans, only some, most however remain hidden.
If more information is needed let's chat about it.

MAGIC
Yes, Magic is real, and it is very much a thing in this Urban Fantasy world. Magic is mostly unknown to most supernatural communities. Because there are so many different types it is hard to fully grasp what it can and cannot do. A healer, for example, someone who could heal the wounds of supernatural's, or others would be a type of magic user. Mages tend to gather and police other supernatural races. It is believed they are a type of black ops for the governments but has yet to be proven.
Necromancy is an art that is even rarer than the others. This is because Vampires and most undead fear it. Necromancers should be hunted or always on the run from the undead who are capable of thought. These creatures will hire, hunt, and track down necromancers whenever possible
OTHER MAGICS – Let us be realistic here, magic is your imagination unleashed. Trying to categorize all of it is a waste of both our time. It is present and has been for an exceptionally long time. Some magic users form groups others do not etc. If more information is needed let us chat about it.

SHIFTERS
Shifters are ever present. Each type and style may or may not have their own culture and hierarchy. Shifters should be mostly around the area of that particular style of animal something they would be comfortable with, however, there are always acceptations of course.
Shifters should not be species selective; they can be should not be required to be. For example, a cougar shifter might get with a bear shifter and live a perfectly normal and happy life. Some might frown on them but this is all flavor for your story and shouldn't be a requirement at all.
While I'm not personally a fan of the idea Dragon shifters would likely be a thing in this world though I suspect they would be extremely rare.
I mention Shifters lightly because like FAY they take up a massive concept of ideas and abilities. Shifters should be like werewolves in concepts, you are not going to have someone who suddenly shifts into a magic user or FAY and get's all their powers for example. But having a coyote or lion, bear etc. would all fall within Shifter areas.
Most if not all Shifters should have a vulnerable to Silver there would of course be exceptions.
All shifters should have a vulnerability to Supernatural weapons such as Claws/fangs/teeth/magic
Some shifters are strong others are weak that is your choice to decide based on what you decide your shifter is like.
Shifters should be able to shift into their chosen animal like spirit. I.E. A bear shifter can shapeshift into a bear. You can expand on this to include more depth or another forum werebear etc.

Fallen Angels
Fallen Angels are exactly that and should not be confused for Demons, Devils, or Lucifer. They are Angels that have fallen from grace and been cursed as a result of it. To understand a Fallen Angel, one must first understand the Angel. Which are created for a single purpose to do God's will. The word Angel translates to messenger or agent. They did not become soldiers until after the war with Lucifer. Most Angel's are lacking personalities because they simply do not need them. They are not human and do not function as a human. Needs, desires, wants, and so forth are human qualities which is why the war with Lucifer started.

Fallen Angel's have several reasons for falling from grace, all can be boiled down to SIN! Did they follow Lucifer after the war? Did they fall to the temptation of humans? Did they willingly choose to fall? This is limited to your imagination. There is no such thing as a Born Fallen Angel, they all fell from grace.

Angels are warriors, they are blessed with powers to aid in future wars or apocalyptic events. Fallen Angels have lost these powers and have only retained those imbedded into their creation, there are no blessings left in them. They are cursed and have been cast out, never to be forgiven. God's forgiveness rests with Humans, not Angels. Because of this Angels are much stronger than Fallen Angels, because they still retain their godly gifts, and Fallen do not.

Noticeable changes take place for a Fallen Angel. Their wings turn black or barren, they are also weaker than those of a regular Angel and offer no armor protection or feathered weapon projectiles. Their eyes turn a stark black and are hinted with red to denote their sin. Their skin can and most often does pale and become ashen losing the once golden hue it held.

Fallen Angels are not immortal and can and do die. A bullet can kill a Fallen Angel just as quickly as it can a human. They do however heal much faster than humans, where a cut may take weeks to heal on a human this would take days on a Fallen.

Fallen Angel personalities are as varied as any human but are typically based around their environment. I.E. A freshly Fallen would act vastly different than one who lived on Earth and those would behave much differently than one who resided in Hell. Bare your environment in mind when deciding your personality.

Their abilities are listed below, these are subjective and can change if you believe they need to. Send a PM for more information and or details if required, otherwise, simply have fun and go wild.

*Physical Change (Able to hide their Angelic form)
*Immunity to poisons and diseases
*Resistant to extreme temperatures (This is not immunity just resistance)
*Eternal Life – They do not physically age
*Superhuman Strength (This is restricted to roughly 500-600lbs)
*Increased speed (This is comparable to vampiric speeds not faster)
*Flight
*Improved healing (They heal faster than humans but this is not regenerative they still need to heal)
*It is not necessary for them to Eat or Drink to maintain their health. (discomfort is still present)
*Immunity to sleep (They can sleep but do not need to.)

WEREWOLVES
Technically a shifter, They are in their own category because the thread will be centered around this concept so I want to provide as much information as I can regarding this. Some of this information may be subject to change based on the review of whoever else is involved in the thread. Let us get started *Deep breath*

Werewolves can take on 3 shapes – Human / Wolf / Werewolf,
…Human is a typical form and based on their birth this might be altered slightly but there will be more information about that below.
…Wolf this should be a standard looking wolf however like the myth says it should be much larger than a normal wolf
…Werewolf this form is often referred to as the war form is big and not all should be able to take it. It is painful and requires the werewolf to pause and alter their form midway through transformation. It is your typical werewolf from horror movies.

Types of werewolves can range and below I am going to list a few of them to give some idea of what I mean
BLUE BLOODS are royal werewolves and yes some are inbred though that is not as common anymore. These royals are well respected in society. Some say their blood makes them better, but few know if that is true. Others say because of the inbreeding they are weaker and have deformities they hide like humans (Regulars) but again few know if this is true or not. They keep away from most groups, but should you see one know they carry weight behind their words.
PUREBLOODS are born werewolves. While rare it is possible to be born a werewolf rather than turned by one. These styles are called purebloods and the only real gift they have is that they shift a little faster and more easily than others. They are normally much more familiar with the lifestyles of werewolves they also likely have a better grasp on their wolf and its nature. One of the downsides to a Pure Blood is they tend to have more wolfen like features, perhaps sharper teeth, longer ears, more hair than normal the choice is yours but purebloods are closer to their wolf then bitten are.
...BITTEN / TURNED werewolves are the most common. Though even these can be rare. Their attack must be so savage so brutal that near the brink of death or just seconds after it, the infection, virus, or curse takes them, whatever you choose to call it. They have all the powers that any other werewolf has but learning to control their wolf can be a big challenge.

The Wolf
..I use this term to describe the second side of a werewolf think of it as a second person living just under the skin. Providing gifts but also demanding much in return. The wolf is more than just a way for people to refer to the more bestial side of things. "I let my wolf take control" etc. It is an aggressive dangerous beast that follows the natural desires of a wolf only amplified with the superiority of a human. The wolf has needs and if they are ignored it can and does take control causing many people to go insane or attack others killing randomly and fighting like the wild animal it is. When something like this happens, they should be put down.
…The wolf is an A-Moral predator, they are dangerous and do not care what is right and what is wrong. That is a human quality and the closer someone is to their wolf side the more wolf like they are. Think of a regular wolf walking in the forest and coming across a wounded animal no matter how old that animal is if that wolf's hungry that's dinner. It is the human side that stops that behavior and says this is unacceptable. The closer one is to their wolf the more wolf like they are.

Gifts are there, of course, aside from changing their form, werewolves along with most shifters can take on some of their animal counterparts traits such as better vision, sharper smell, hearing, taste buds, they tend to be stronger than humans (regulars) even in their human form, faster than your typical human (regular), more durable than a human (regular). Because of this they are watched carefully making sure a werewolf doesn't walk into a gym looking like a 190lbs and bench 500lbs like it's no big deal. (An extreme example but you get the idea)

Society
This is an important topic because it will govern many things. From the pack to the state to the country.
...Prime Alpha – this is a werewolf that rules all other werewolves in the country. This werewolf will call Alpha's from all the states and gather them. A Prime Alpha would never handle pack disputes but would handle a war for example.
...Alpha – In a pack, there is one leader above all others, This is the Alpha they have absolute control over their pack and are responsible for their pack. They are tied to them on a spiritual level and can often feel the presence of a member. Their power allows all other wolves in the pack to feel this same connection to each other. Like the tree and the branches are the pack.
...Ranks – ranks are a big part of the werewolf society, who is the strongest. They have a very Viking like mentality when it comes to leadership and perhaps one of the most disturbing things about them is that these challenges for dominance and authority over one another are so common that it's become part of their culture.
...Omegas – A type of submissive to the pack, They avoid challenges of dominance and accept being at the bottom. This does not mean their mistreated or abused. In fact, most packs fiercely protect their Omegas because being around them can have a soothing effect on others. They are however at the bottom of the pack and from time to time authority is flexed to make this point clear by those who might be displeased by them.
...Lone Wolves – A lone wolf is a dangerous wolf. They are not hunted but often not welcome in territories that do not belong to them. Packs actively seek them out to recruit or get rid of them. Lone wolves can be one of the leading factors in bitten victims. As a werewolf, the wolf side is always seeking a pack. When that is not the case the wolf tends to assume it is time to die and has wandered off to do just that. However, some Lone Wolves have been forced to wander alone. Causing heartache and pain throughout their life.

In short, werewolves are a brutal and aggressive group of individuals they are not a barbaric group but they are a highly aggressive, sexual, and territorial bunch and in a pack can be extremely dangerous even when alone they can be unpredictable.

THE WORLD
This is in the end an Urban Fantasy world. Humans are typically referred to as Regulars by supernatural creatures. Their technology is advancing, and it is getting more and more difficult to live among them. Some FAY have come out to the humans, rumors are bound about them being experimented on or working with the government to help control other supernatural creatures. Magic is real and dangerous many people think that Mages work for the government as black ops like group to police supernatural's as most magic users tend to do just that.

There could be other races not mentioned here, like demons. Magic and demonology are two sides of the same coin sometimes perhaps that is a thing. Who knows the world is open to be explored.

I wanted to create this overview not to create a blueprint of how things are, but to create an idea that this is how things should be. There are always exceptions to the rules this is roleplay and by no means should this world force someone to play into a particular style.

This was a lot of information, but I hope it helps expand the world that will be used and gives you some creative and exciting ideas on what interests you.

More information will be added at a later date to include more fantasy based ideas and concepts. Perhaps a gate will open allowing Fantasy based D&D style monsters to enter the world who knows for now this is what I've got so far :)

Thanks for reading.
