Before I get into this, there is one huge requirement and little rant:
Now for the plot ideas:
(This post will be edited often)
If anyone wants to discuss, please do.
I am not usually the type to run a plot on romance, but I would like to try. If I ever do romances within a role play, they are straight romances where my character is the male because I am too paranoid about creepy dudes or someone judging it. I would really like to try role playing something more accurate to myself for once.
- Be female. Trust me, if you are a male pretending to be female, I will be able to tell. Avid big gays like myself can tell when you're just a perverted straight dude sexualizing us. I knew a guy who pretended to be a lesbian on role play sites just so he could be gross(turned out the person he was role playing with was another guy LMAO) , so that gave me huge trust issues. It's not hard to tell when some lonely dude who's never been with a woman in his life is pretending to BE a woman with a woman. Frankly, they're really stupid and have no idea what they are talking about. I know this mainly from reading bad lesbian fanfics written by those types of people in order to be able to spot it. There are certain phrases and ways of descriptive language that are red flags for me and not hard to spot. Sorry, this is just something I am overtly paranoid about, and I will be pretty cautious considering it is one of the reasons I have avoided doing this sort of romantic role play idea forever.

- Phantom of the Opera-inspired type. I am a huge fan of The Phantom of the Opera: Ive read the novel, love the movies, listen to the soundtrack like weekly, so I would love to do something inspired by it! This does not have to be copy-paste Phantom story. Rather, something similar with a supposed spirit that "haunts" a large, beautiful place where the "Christine" of the story makes a living. She is refereed to as a phantom and presumed to be male because she is butch, plus the little glimpses they see of her make it hard to tell what she is other than a spirit. (I play butch women because I identify with them more, not because I am asserting some sort of "she wears the pants" narrative). Your character can be anything, really, but The Phantom will fall obsessively in love with your character. There can be many ways this story goes. I intend on The Phantom making rather tragic and manipulative actions, terrorizing the place she haunts to eventually find herself reflecting on what she has done, much like in the story. There could be a love triangle (whether the other person is a man or woman is up to you), which will contribute to the things The Phantom may do. Other details can be discussed. Essentially, I am looking for a Phantom of the Opera- inspired story with that sort of vibe and basic plot. I am also considering making The Phantom an actual ghost, and I will more than likely have her be a poet rather than a music writer. A poet, but still mechanical and engineering. I will write more of her character later or discuss it in pm.
- For some reason, I really like the trope of a butch woman in disguise as a man in order to protect herself due to history's prejudice and to openly be with her woman in public without scrutiny. This plot is a much less sinister one than The Phantom, and much more free-range: Basically, the two of us meet somewhere in Victorian America or England. Perhaps each of us are higher class citizens who need to balance life, maybe we are both horribly impoverished and need to survive, or perhaps we are on opposite ends of the spectrum, adding another dynamic to our "forbidden love" cliche. I would like this to be mostly romance oriented without much tragic "Forbidden gay love" because that is tiring, but it can be a small aspect realistically considering the era. This plot is more free as I said, and we can discuss it. With this one, I would like to avoid serious tragedy because sometimes that's all you see with gay romances. A happily ever after ending would be great for once.
- Medieval fantasy: One of our characters is hunting the other for crimes she had committed, but through confrontation the characters fall in love instead. This could be a soldier story, a pirate story, a thief story, an assassin story, etc. When one of our characters is sent to arrest or exterminate the other, they fall in love and become partners in crime. Maybe one of our characters keeps the other captive for a few days to protect her back(deciding whether or not to kill the captive), but they find common moral grounds and common goals in life, making an agreement to stick with one another. Or maybe they eventually go through a bad event that pulls them together, or forces them together as they have to move forward and solve a problem. Maybe they have a common rival they want to overthrow together, or maybe they want to raid tombs or just live on a farm- who knows. Maybe they hate the king who's corrupt and tyrannical, wanting him dead.
