So I've been listening to this playlist of just deliciously evil characters:
... and now, I'm getting a major craving for something inspired by these songs. Something like these, perhaps?
You're a villainous thing and I don't think anyone knows
My character (or yours if you feel like you'd enjoy steering the ship!) is a villain, but a subtle one. He could be a supervillain who's been fighting your heroine for years, or he could be near the top of an organized crime ring, puppeteering from the shadows. That's flexible. The key is, he's in a position opposite yours, but close enough to know you, and close enough to start clouding your mind and morals. He doesn't just want to use you, he wants to partner with you, because he sees potential. In you, he doesn't just see brilliance, he sees a mind as devious as his...
One man falls, another takes his place
He chases the wind until the end of his days
One man falls, another takes his place
He chases the wind until the end of his days
On the other hand, it could be fun if we're both villains, caught in a power struggle. I'm imagining a silly or darkly humorous battle between comic book style villains, with it maybe becoming a friendly rivalry (or more), but hey! This one feels pretty open.
But I'm gonna win, I'm gonna try
I'll never lose, I'll never die
You've seen me before, you'll see me again
I'll never give up, I'll never give in
Til I'm bloody and bruised
Til I've broken my bones
Til I won't be abused
Til I'm laughing alone
There are a lot of ways you could take this chorus, but I'm thinking our characters could be in a "kill or be killed" scenario. Maybe it's the slightly-overdone-but-still-fun battle royale scenario, or maybe our group is hiking in the wilderness and end up lost and running out of food... except for each other. This would, of course, require some degree of NPC writing from each of us, but 90% of the focus would be our characters anyway. (And I'm open to losing, as long as it comes down to just us in a fight that takes a toll on both of us!)
I get a little bit Genghis Khan
I don't want you to get it on
With nobody else but me
With nobody else but me
Okay, so this is not from the playlist, but it still fits. The spy aspect of the music video fits the song very well, and we could do something with that. We could both be spies, and my character gets jealous about the other people your character has to seduce to accomplish her missions. He tracks her wherever she goes, and he makes it his mission to put an end to these affairs... even if it requires a little bloodshed. (Rather than a string of "She sleeps with someone, he kills them, she finds a new target", it should probably only take one or two murders for this to give her something of a reputation as a black widow, and information dries up as no one wants to get close to her. There could be interesting fallout when she figures it out, because a spy of her caliber should figure it out rather quickly.)
Or there could be a million other possibilities! I left the whole playlistbecause it's freaking good and I've listened to it twice in the like four hours of free time I've had today as inspiration for more ideas. It would be fun to have a springboard to be a wisecracking villain, but it's also just a delight to watch Mark Hamill's Joker or Ryan Reynolds... just in general (His characters aren't considered villains, but they're not good people, at least). Message me if you like these or other ideas!
