Savannah Krugle's head pounded something fierce, her eyes were closed but the sunlight was still managing to blind her. She laid her forearm over her eyes to give them a break from the damn day star. On top of her headache there was a queasiness that was holding hands with it and skipping down the beach. As she slowly started to gain consciousness a little bit more she realized she was laying on something that was somewhat soft but firm. Her other hand spread out and she realized it was sand. As her mind became more aware of her surroundings she could feel the warmth of the sun beating down on her, the gentle lap of waves against the shore, and the calls of sea birds that with each shrill cry made her head ache all the more.

Despite her current feelings she forced herself to sit up, her cobalt blue eyes slowly opening as the increased light just made her feel worse. When they were fully opened she could see the clear blue water in front of her, the sand was almost blindingly white. She glanced around and realized that behind her was a lush forest of palm trees and other warm climate plants. She dragged herself to her feet before she walked down to the edge of the water, Savannah's dry mouth was something that needed to be remedied before she could figure out anything else. Her hand scooped up some of the water; as soon as the cool liquid touched her tongue she spat it back out. The salt water would do nothing to quench her thirst, there had to be a water source close by.

Gathering everything she started to walk inland, her hand absently rubbing her face and then the feeling of something wrong settled over her. The hand felt more calloused than usual, she examined the digits and realized that her fingers were thicker and her hand was bigger than usual. She looked down at her body and it didn't take her long to recognize she was no longer female but she unfortunately recognized the clothing. Somehow she had ended in her father's body which meant two things for her.

One: Her father was in her body.

Two: She was absolutely hung over right now.

She moved along the edge of the trees, her body must be around here somewhere. She scratched over her brain trying to figure out how they could've ended up in this situation to begin with. How had they switched bodies and how did they get to where they were? Her last memories had been on the outskirts of the village; she, her brother Vincent and his current girlfriend were working odd jobs until they had money to move on from that place. Vincent had taken up work in a book shop while Savannah had worked in a bar, and The girlfriend was independently selling herbs and other healing treatments. Unfortunately for Savannah working where she did meant that her father was a frequent customer. Every night she worked she watched him drink his money away, flirt with just about anyone who would let him and eventually go home with someone. There was that creeping sensation that Savannah knew that he had taken the wrong person home last night.

As she made her way down the beach, quietly praying that her brother and his girlfriend were doing alright in her absence. They were all adults but it was ingrained in the oldest sibling to look after her brother. She had practically raised him from infancy and that was a hard habit for her to break. It wasn't long before she found her body sprawled out in the sand unconscious. Savannah crouched down and shook her father awake, Tobias groaned softly.

"Wake up you son of a bitch." Savannah growled at him, his brow furrowed in confusion before he finally opened his eyes and looked at his body kneeling down next to him.

"What the hell-" He stopped speaking when he heard his new voice. He looked down at the body he was in and then looked back at his body in front of him. "Savannah?"

"Yeah, I don't know who you fucked and fucked over last night but this is absolutely your fault." She was growing more irritated by the moment.

"Jeez, fucking drink some of the flask in my back pocket and you'll be less bitchy..." He said as he climbed to his feet and dusted the sand off himself.

"A drink isn't going to fix this! It was your drinking that got us put into this position to begin with! Now I'll ask since you didn't comprehend the first time: Who did you fuck over that they swapped our bodies?!" Her voice growing more irritated as she spoke, almost like she was trying to get a toddler to cooperate.

Tobias thought over it, combing through his memories and seemed to draw a blank. "I think I was black out drunk by that point, I don't remember."

Savannah pinched the bridge of her nose, "Of course you don't remember, how convenient..."

"You think I like this any better than you right now!" He sighed and pinched his nose too.

"Perhaps I can clear some of this up for you." A woman's voice said close to them, Savannah looked over and saw a beautiful woman. She had long red hair that curled its way down to her waist. She wore a form fitting white dress with a long slit up the right side that exposed her leg. Her green eyes looked over the pair of them.

"Why did you do this to me?!" Savannah yelled, her anger over everything she had woken up to only fueled the fire in her.

"I'm here to help you both after what I learned about the pair of you." The woman said softly, a smile playing on her plump lips. "She hates your guts Tobias and you... You think you have shown her enough love and don't understand why she's so angry all the time. Not to worry, this little lesson won't last long. You're about a mile from the village, all you have to do is walk back. Upon reaching the village you'll be returned to your bodies."

Tobias groaned a bit and Savannah rolled her eyes, "Lady, I don't know who you think you are, but this isn't going to help. You can't teach an old dog new tricks." She practically spat the word dog at her father.

"Look, trust the process my dears. Ta ta." She said with a smile as she vanished from them, the faintest smell of sulfur lingered in the air.

"C'mon let's get moving. I'd like to get some proper sleep before my shift tonight." She then started to making her way back towards the village with her father trailing behind her a couple steps.

For the first quarter of a mile the pair of them were quiet, Savannah not used to her sudden height frequently bumped into things while Tobias needlessly ducked under things. The only sounds were their shoes moving through the small bit of forest before they'd reach a road. The day was already beginning to heat up and certainly would be scorching by the time the sun reached its peak in the sky.

It was after that long silence, Tobias was the one who broke the silence. "You hate my guts?"

"I don't think I've given you reason to believe otherwise." She growled.

"Why?"

"WHY!? Are you being intentionally dense! You claimed I was your favorite and you took me for granted, you made me into a parent when I should've been a child. Not only did I raise Vincent almost entirely on my own I had to take care of you too! The amount of times I've had to clean up your vomit, clean you up, put you to bed, make sure you were still alive is too damn many! Not to mention all the women who have showed up pregnant with your child, see the state of your life and up and leave. Those kids were the lucky ones to grow up without you around. And sometimes I'd think you'd turn your life around, you'd get a partner, you'd drink way less, and you'd seem happy for a while. Then you'd get bored, cheat on them and I was back to cleaning you up." Savannah ranted at him, he seemed to almost shrink away as she spoke to him.

She took a breath before she continued, "I don't even know why you're like this. I know Grandpa was never like this with you and he certainly wasn't like that when he'd watch us sometimes. It was such a hard thing to see him pass, he had been my only support and he was gone. Gods, he'd be disgusted with how his son turned out. The worst part is you DECIDED to raise me alone! You didn't want my mother around because you knew what was best. I could've been raised in a loving home with her, but you decided that Tobias Krugle knew what was need to be done and here we are."

The silence then fell in after her words and filled up the space between them. Savannah let that sink in as they walked together. "Don't you have anything to say?"

Tobias cleared his throat, "You're right, I've been an awful father..."

"No, no, no, we're not doing that either. This isn't a pity party. I can't wait until we can leave this fucking village and get far away from you and your bastards!" Savannah snapped at him.

The silence filled the air between them as they reached the road and started to make their way back into town. It was another quarter mile before Tobias spoke up. "I want to make it up to you, I can do better, please." He pleaded softly.

"Get sober, I'll leave my new address with my boss to keep an eye on you. If you've genuinely made a change we'll talk then. Until then you can keep your sorry and woe is me bullshit. I'm done listening to what you have to say, maybe this is the wakeup call you need or maybe you'll just let us go like you do with every single person that's come and gone in your life."

The last quarter mile was quiet, as was promised when they reached the edge of the village they were swapped back to their original bodies. Savannah stretched a let out a soft sigh, happy to no longer be hung over. Without a good bye or anything she went back to the home she shared with her brother. Tobias tried to stop her but the words didn't come out fast enough to stop her. He groaned softly at the hangover that pounded in his skull, without thinking he reached into his pocket and pulled out his flask. His fingers turned the cap, he could smell the strong liquor in it and almost raised it to his lips. Tobias grimaced briefly before he closed the cap on the flask before throwing it as far as he could away from him.

"You won't have to do this alone." The woman said as she reappeared by him. "I'll make sure you get to where you need to be for the sake of your relationship with your children and future grandchildren."

"Grandchildren?" Tobias looked at her a little confused.

"Why do you think they're moving so quickly? Your son is going to be a father to twins. They don't know it's twins yet, but I'm sure you'll want to be there for them." She said.

"What was your name again?" Tobias asked a bit sheepishly.

"Kali." She smiled sweetly and took his hand in hers and walked him back to his own house.
