Tell me, what is a beginning?
Is it the first notes of a melody?
The first song at dawn?
The first steps of a newborn fawn?
Or is is an end?
The last moment of silence?
The last ray of sunshine?
The last breath of an old friend?
How can something so vague be so well defined?
It is the first steps of a ballerina at the start of their dance,
The music of the orchestra that plays for them,
And the last steps they take from the stage.
Each is an end but it is also a beginning,
For nothing can start unless something ends,
The spring cannot come unless the winter ends,
Yet it cannot start unless there is a winter to end.
The new leaves of spring cannot grow until those before have gone,
The strawberries cannot grow until the flowers have fallen,
One cannot be without the other.
So tell me,
