One of the many plagues of the writer, is the endeavour to create like an artist with these lines and markings, to paint a picture in written words that another may enjoy in their viewing. We hope against all hopes, that a reader might see the scene as we do, and slave laboriously over keys and pages to show them just that.
Sometimes, the challenge is to coordinate your words just so, so a small piece can inspire the thought of a larger plot. We do it in our roleplay replies, telling our characters' sides to the story within the confines of post. That is where we meet this month's challenge: Flash Fiction.

Its not quite a short story. By definition, or by a few internet articles, a short story has a plot we can see through from start to finish. There's an intro, a climax, a resolution.

Flash Fiction is a bit more brief, but no less in it's ability to weigh on and intrigue the reader's mind. It's a hint, a peek, into a scene, setting, or story. While it does not display all of the makings of a plot, its a peek through a crack in a doorway, enough to capture the viewer, to hint at a much larger story.

This is the challenge, should you choose to try your hand. Technically, flash fiction pieces can stretch up to 2,000 words, but where's the challenge there? We are roleplayers--we can do that with our hands tied. So let's cut it back.

In 400-500 words, write your thing. Make us wonder. Put the imagination and intrigue into it, give us a plot to ponder. After all, in the endeavour, you might end up inspiring yourself to throw out a new request thread. Aside from word count, and following site rules, no stealing posts from any of your site roleplays. Write your piece for the sake of writing, for a new story you've never shared, for practice if you desire, or even because you imagine how good the votes feel when the challenge closes at the end of the month.

Please create a separate thread for your entry within this forum.
