Howdy! I'm Wyrd. I've done lots of RP over the years and figure I'm a pretty good hand at it. I would like to say that I'm not picky but that would not be true. To avoid unnecessary disappointment from all parties, I will try to be specific about the things I want and need from fellow players!

I'll try to make this as brief as possible because posts are mostly like lingerie - the smaller the better and more about revealing than concealing. ;)

Responses in PM, please!

Guidelines

The words in this section are important to me.
  • Clear communication about in-game issues. If something is going wrong, I'd like to know! When something goes right, that's nice to know, too. I'll do the same!
  • Moderate length replies. I like concise writing over length, though. If you can find one word to replace a paragraph, I will be your friend forever, or at least admire the post forever.
  • A post must suggest an action on my part. If it doesn't, if the post simply hands the action back to me for further development, I will quickly lose interest. It happens to everyone now and then, but it's best if it's fairly rare.
  • I do smut, and I enjoy it quite a lot, but I need good narrative framing devices for it to work. I'm into what most people are into and avoid what most people avoid.
    • Apropos smut, mostly if you remind me now and then that the character has nice breasts, long legs, and a nice backside, I'm cool.
    • I like a lot of intrigue in play, and some of that could play out as the characters (both of them, or either of them) being prostitutes in service to a higher power.
    • There can also be some RP-inside-RP where the characters infiltrate as a couple and get to role-play as someone different - like undercover cops infiltrating the mob as mobsters and having sex as mobsters.
    • I am also open to exploring adulterous and polyamorous relationships, as well as just inviting third or fourth parties in for some fun.
    • Which is to say that while smut isn't going to be the focus of the play, there can be quite a lot of smut in the play so long as it follows the lines of the plot!
  • Dom or sub?! I find the question laborious. If a person needs to define their characters as dom or sub, I would lose interest quickly if I played in those situations.
  • Adventure! Excitement! A Jedi might not crave these things, but I do in RP partners. If you're not willing to be active and engaged when describing action scenes - gun fights, fist fights, chases, space battles, things of this nature - then I will quickly lose interest.
  • Boys or girls? I will play a boy. I prefer it if you play a girl. There can be plenty of NPCs, though, or even multiple characters if that's your gig.
  • Frequency. If you drift much below one post a week, I'll probably lose interest in the game. If you post to me, there's a good chance you'll get a post or two back that day.

Things I Will Do

Likewise, the words in this section are important to me.

If I have a problem, I will bring it to you. For realsies. If something is bugging me, you'll hear about it as diplomatically as I can manage. If I end a play, I will tell you as diplomatically as I can manage.

If you contact me, the first thing I am likely to do is to talk to you about our compatibility. So, be warned!

Things I Need You to Do

This is the most important part of my request thread. There's a lot of wiggle room with everything else but from long experience, I know that these are the critical parts of play for me.
  • Play interesting, active, dynamic characters. The characters should be capable of at least some action and adventure, and the player should want to do that kind of play.
  • Share the load of plotting and driving the action. If I'm the only person coming up with scenarios, I will eventually conclude my time could be better spent writing.

Things I Want to Play

I have figured out the things I like to play! I like to play some diversity of subject matter, revolving around these themes:
  • Superheroes. Probably my favorite genre, whether canon or originals. I prefer vigilante-style superhero stuff - more Daredevil or Nightwing than Superman or Spider-Man - but "superheroes" is always a good lead-in with me. The downside is that this is almost always the first thing taken up by someone!
  • Sci-fi. I like my sci-fi to be cyberpunk or a little "weird," as in the Dune novels.
    • Post-apocalyptic. Usually as a sub-genre of sci-fi, with or without zombies, but possibly a magical cataclysm.
    • Alien invasion. Usually as apocalyptic, because I don't think that humans could plausibly fight aliens.
  • Dark urban fantasy. You know, vampires, werewolves, that kind of thing.
  • Fantasy. But NOT traditional fantasy - so if something has elves and dwarves in it, I'm probably not interested. Something a little weirder, though, such as based on the books about Elric of Melnibone or Corwin of Amber would get my motor running.
  • This list is not exhaustive, though. How could it be? But most of the games I play do fit into the above categories.
Here are additional themes that are likely to arise in all my play, regardless of genre:
  • Villains. I like named villains against whom the characters struggle. Often, I'll know who I want the bad guy to be before play starts (though I'm open to suggestions, of course). I find that the knowledge of a villain and their goals helps with almost everything else in the game. It allows the creation of situations meant to find and defeat the bad guy as a framing device for everything else - including sex scenes.
  • Action. There's probably going to be a fair bit of running, jumping, shooting, punching, grappling, and drivin' around in the games I play. If your character can't do this sort of thing, it could create problems.
  • Intrigue. Whether it's court politics or infiltrating a dangerous gang, there's probably going to be some social drama happening in the game.

Things I Don't Want to Play
  • Standard fantasy template. If it has elves and dwarves in it, or there are easy comparisons to a D&D setting or the writings of Tolkien, I'm not currently interested.
  • Doms or subs. Just not interested in the dynamic. If you find yourself describing yourself as either a dom or sub or would characterize your RP as centered around dom/sub dynamics, I'm not your guy.
  • Anime. De gustibus non est disputandum. The themes are tropes of anime do not move me, I'm afraid. There are exceptions, but it's much easier to simply acknowledge that it's a genre to itself about which I don't want to play.

Fandoms

I've got a love-hate relationship with fandoms. I like them because they give both players a good grip on setting and characters. I like playing canonical characters, too. But it is almost always the case that people have strong opinions about how things "should be." As a result, things can get weird. So, if we're going to do fandoms, they need to be alternate universe fandoms where our preferences, needs, and desires are part of the setting rather than a distraction from the setting.
  • Comics - mostly the big two, and mostly in their cinematic or TV incarnations (because they're more accessible). Or, rather, alternate incarnations more related to their cinematic or TV incarnations? Do I make any sense at all?
  • Dune. Arrakis. Desert planet... I think that Dune is the finest sci-fi novel - perhaps finest novel - of all time, and who wouldn't want to RP there? Or, rather, an alternative version of there.
  • And probably a bunch of novels and TV shows that of which people have never heard! For the time being, I'm going to say, "Hey, you want something? Ask!"
