My super human:

vMEqpne.jpg

Name: Lucy Skye Diamant (born Lucille Denis… uses a fake identity)

Age: 27

Gender: Female

Sexual Orientation: Demisexual (must know them well) but panamorous

Power: Induce/Control Mental Hallucinations
* Can affect those in a 50 ft radius
* Singular targets are subject to the most effective and detailed attacks
* Groups can be targeted, but such attacks are usually simpler and shorter hallucinations

Power weaknesses: If Lucy overuses her power, she may develop temporary psychosis until she is either able to either meditate and center herself or sleep it off. If the psychosis is bad, this may take a large level of convincing.

Features when power is in use: Even if she targets specific people, everyone in a 50 ft radius is affected as even the non-targeted will hallucinate a color distortion around her. The more energy she puts into her attack, the more color distortion appears to occur. (Ex. An extra powerful attack might make an observer "see" her hair turn green and her skin lavender.)

Background: Lucy Diamant was born and raised in New York City in the East Village, where a sizable bohemian population exists. Raised by her single dad (modern art curator) and her dad's live-in boyfriend-turned-husband (as of a few years ago), Lucy enjoyed a subculture of open-mindedness and new-age sensibilities… until her first salvia trip at the age of 18. She and a group of local teens/young adults had decided on a night of experimentation and experience. There was acid and pot on the agenda, but first they decided to take turns taking one hit of salvia each between the eight of them. Lucy was first to volunteer, but when she took the hit, everyone in the room experienced the same hallucinations as she. It took them all a few minutes afterwards to realize that Lucy had caused the whole thing. Several in the group were not comfortable enough to continue the night with her involved and left, but the remaining teens realized how useful this would be… it would certainly save them money!

Despite the discomfort of several of the teens, none of them ever revealed her ability until she was 24 years old, when suddenly the existence of super humans was exposed to the public-at-large. When this happened, one of those "uncomfortable teens" (who had since rejected the bohemian lifestyle in favor of more conservative values) decided it was his duty to "out" Lucy as a super human. Before she could be hunted, her father and now-stepfather helped her pack her bags at her apartment, and she reluctantly toned down her bohemian style to stand out less. Despite their offer to run with her she refused, advising them to deny knowing about her power and to not try to find her… she would write to them under a different name. They drove her out to Penn Station to board a train there, and she left everything she knew behind.

Now she lives the nomadic lifestyle of a burnt-out and jaded ex-bohemian. She takes her morning coffee with a joint and a lump of snark as she mourns the life that she was forced to leave behind. She works odd jobs and leads people through "shamanic journeys" and "guided meditations" (her powers at work) to earn enough to get the basics. Despite her darker outlook on life, the old new-age sensibilities still remain ingrained in her psyche.

Personality: In her younger days she was far more cheerful and optimistic, having faith in the universe and loving her child-of-the-universe lifestyle. She lost that way of life with one little call to the government by a former associate that she hadn't talked to in years. Needless to say, she has developed a lack of trust and a healthy streak of cynicism when it comes to anyone she meets. If someone tries to get closer to her, she will test them, whether they know it or not. If someone earns her trust, however, she will stand by them and grow rather protective of them… especially if they are younger. (She will never admit that she has a matronly streak.) She has a snarky sense of humor with a slight hint of darkness. Still, her fashion tastes remain bohemian-ish, even if it now reflects a dash of 90's goth. Deep down inside, she yearns for reconnection to the carefree, gentle soul that she once was, but such dreams will have to be set aside for now if she is to remain free.

Skills and Talents: Meditation, acting, con-artistry, forgery, charm, pick pockets, pick locks, hotwire cars, ride motorcycle/drive car, scavenge, streetwise, play percussion instruments

Name: Catalina DeLuca
Nickname Cat
Age: 41
Gender: Female
Occupation: Assistant District Attorney, Metro City. Law specialization- Special Victims
Background: Catalina was raised on the south side of Metro City. Her father, a police officer, was an alcoholic and abused her, her little sister, and her mother whenever he had a bad day on the beat.

One day (at the age of 16), she caught her father touching her sister "inappropriately" and grabbed a camera before her father noticed that she was watching. She snapped a picture and ran out of the house as fast as she could, down to the station ten blocks away. At first, the police didn't believe her, since they worked with her father and showed bias in his favor, but then a counselor got involved. After seeing several bruises under her arm, he called the Special Victims unit himself. Once the lawyers got involved, the evidence was brought to light. Her father was only given a pathetic 5 year sentence, but he died in jail as the hands of another prisoner.

Being grateful to the law officials who stood by her, she felt inspired to go into the field of law herself. And so, she became an advocate on behalf of those who had suffered at the hands of those who would prey on their vulnerabilities.

Catalina is divorced (Thomas Rhodes), with one adopted child (Micah) who is a self-sufficient teenager. She had retained her maiden name when she was married.

Personality: Ever the inquisitive soul, Cat has never been one to shy away from getting down to the nitty gritty. She is bold and proud, and doesn't tolerate being dismissed or disrespected on account of being a woman.

Name: Dr. E. Bram Vandermark (First name Eugene… he prefers Bram)

Age: 47

Gender: Male

Sexual Orientation: Asexual

Profession: Geneticist, Human Research and Engineering Directorate (HRED), United States Army Research Laboratory

Rank: Private citizen (contract hire)

Background: Dr. Vandermark graduated at the top of his class at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. He ate, slept, and breathed genetics… especially when it came to abnormalities. He had worked at several research facilities and during his time at the second one conducted several radical genetic experiments that were deemed to be on the verge of "unethical", as they involved cloning and splicing theories. The research had been buried by the head of his department, but an undercover government agent posing as the head's assistant hacked their systems and stole the information. Sometime into his mid-40s, government officials re-examined his work and approached him about a very special position at HRED… the study and experimentation of the super-human gene. This was the opportunity of a lifetime for the Geneticist, and he was delighted when the first experiment came to him… a young man with extraordinary abilities of hyper-speed. He cared not why the government wanted this research done, nor did he care what toll it took on his test subject… he only saw possibilities.

This was everything he had ever dreamed of. And he wants more.

Name: Dr. Zellifer Vin Howsy, Wizard and Sleuth-for-Hire

Age: 23

Gender: Female, we think.

Sexual Preference: That's irrelevant to the task at hand.

Profession: Detective, Scientist, Wizard, and all-around Renaissance woman, thanks.

Personality: INTP Personality Type

With an active brain constantly calculating away, Zellifer is obsessed with possibilities and puzzles, and is the name in avant garde detection techniques. She is more at home analyzing the greater mysteries than she would be at a social banquet. She is only interested in socializing if there is information to uncover, and despite her introverted nature, is quite attentive when it comes to the body language of others. As she would say… "I know people. That's why I don't trust them."

Her only other passions are collecting wizarding tomes and scientific journals, and having her quiet moments of putting her feet up by the fire and settling in with a book, a pipe, and a nice hot cup of peppermint tea.

Background: Since she was a small child, Zellifer always sought out mental stimulation, and because of this she was generally viewed as the menace of her home village. Her inquisitive nature lead to her raiding private libraries, jury-rigging contraptions that would work once or twice before causing damage to public property, and even finding the Mayor's secret chamber during a social banquet held at his manor (revealing secrets to the general populace). A town hall meeting was called to order to discuss what to do with this brilliant but impetuous child. A local friar stood up and suggested that if the child was both brilliant and bored, it could only lead to trouble. His solution? Send her to Osar's Academy of Wizardry and Alchemic Sciences, two towns away. Her frazzled mother and father packed her belongings as the village counsel all-too-happily hired a footman with a horse and carriage using town funds. And so, Zellifer Vin Howsy was unceremoniously sent away to her destiny. Her village breathed a collective sigh of relief.

The years passed and Zellifer was placed under the apprenticeship of Quilore Tarrendust the Gnostic, a controversial figure even amongst the mage circles, because he shared his quarters with his twin brother Quivore, the town sheriff, and Quivore had plenty to teach Zellifer as well. Between the two, Zellifer underwent a rather unorthodox apprenticeship. By the time she was 21, she was using her wizarding and science skills to assist Quivore in his investigations.

Her reputation as an unorthodox but successful investigator spread along the western parts of the land, and now, at 23, she is ready for her next assignment.
