Just a quick announcement to remind you that, as we announced at the start of the month, any conversation images from before July 1st 2023 are now subject to deletion
The actual process of removal will take some time, as it must be done manually, so if you have any images you care about in conversations, save them now. They cannot be recovered.
As a reminder:
1. This does not apply to any other images on the site, only those in PMs
2. This only applies to uploaded attachments. Images linked from off-site should be fine
3. This is a clean-up of an eight-year backlog before we roll out an official one-year expiry.
4. Exactly how the expiry will work is uncertain at the moment, but most likely it will involve us manually doing this every few months. In short, do not use conversations for long term image storage. If you want to preserve face claims, reference images or other content, they must be either posted in an appropriate forum or linked from an off-site image host.
As always, questions or comments below!!
