Good evening! It's a pleasure to meet y'all!
You can call me Carro (subject to change and of much debate). I'm nonbinary, they/them, in my mid 30s, and am both a visual artist and looong time writer/roleplayer. I'm very out of practice and I'm more than a little nervous, but here goes!
Roleplaying has been the one big love affair central to my life since I was too young to be called a tween, and though I've fallen out of touch with my creativity (particularly my writing) in recent years, I'm hoping to rekindle that spark here. I've been rping almost as long as I can remember: I grew up rping with friends in real life ("making stories," we called it) and was further raised by seedy anime forums of yore; I survived several Tumblr fandom rp communities, and then promptly moved to Skype, then Discord, until The Writer's Block showed up and all but squashed my love of the written craft for a fair number of years. I've held onto my love of roleplaying through tabletop RPGs--primarily D&D--which has been my main form of rp in the past decade or so, primarily as a DM/GM, but lately, I've been feeling the call to return to my roots.
A bit more about me outside of rp:
Length/Style: While I consider myself a multi-para writer, I am also extremely flexible; I am happy to do more, and I am also happy to do (and receive!) less. Life is hard and hectic and sometimes, you (or I) just don't have the spoons. As long as nobody is feeling pressured to match when they just aren't for it, I'm down for anything. I like to give my partners something to work with, and I love really getting to explore who the characters are and what makes them tick. OOC chatter is very much appreciated--sometimes, the OOC plotting can be just as fun as the actual roleplay itself! I write almost exclusively in the third person, past-tense unless doing short script style rps; first person does not really do it for me rp-wise.
Genre/Setting: Horror and fantasy (high or low) are my wheelhouses. Combine the two? Even better! Throw vampires or religious horror into the mix? Sorry, we're best friends now, them's the rules. I'm fine with playing in almost any sort of genre if the characters/story are interesting, but I do have a preference for the tragic and a flair for the dramatic. I am not afraid for the story to go Dark, so long as everyone involved is cool with that! I am also a sucker for a good romance, with a preference for slowburns and queer relationships, but I do prefer not to jump straight into smut with someone (OOC/IC) that I do not know very well. If we ever do write smut, I am down to write as little or as much smut as you are comfortable with. Consent and negotiation are key!
Fandoms: I don't tend to rp fandom stuff much these days. I used to be heavy in the WTNV and Homestuck rp scenes in my Tumblr days, and while I may be down to do something in a fandom setting, I probably won't be very interested in fandom stuff. Exceptions would include open world settings that are explicitly meant to be played around with such as established D&D settings--particularly Ravenloft or Exandria. please don't get me started on ravenloft special interest soapbox hhh
Recently, as briefly mentioned, I've been working to overcome both my crushing writer's block (hard) and my debilitating social anxiety (Harder), and I am in desperate want of broadening my social circle. It is my hope to be able to make stories and make new friends with some of you lovely folks! I am quite shy, but I am always happy to chat and plot!

A bit more about me outside of rp:
- I have a full-time job that gets crazy busy in the tail end of the year and am chronically tired so I may be sparse; please excuse any slow replies!
- Writing and creating art is my life, but I also enjoy the hell out of reading and playing video games
- Horror is my favorite genre across all media; if it's spooky, I probably like it, or at least have Opinions on it
- I am very queer, most of my characters are some flavor of very queer, and that is something I like to highlight in my writing and work
