Some History:
I have been writing in forum-based RP threads for over fifteen years, having started during my freshman year of college. Most of my writing was shared on one specific RP forum, where I was highly active in larger threads of four or more writers. That RP site has since closed its doors forever, and all materials posted to its servers have been completely deleted. I was inactive when this occurred, and was devastated to learn that several threads and an entire subforum I once moderated (consisting of an original fantasy world) could never be accessed again.

What I Seek (Other than the Holy Grail):
I seek to collaboratively create worlds and stories worth sharing and remembering. I seek to remind the world that writing is an art capable of evoking the strongest of emotions. I seek to perfect the beauty of my written words. I seek to write with those who share these aspirations.

Level of Quality:
Post length of at least 2-3 paragraphs is always a plus. Longer isn't necessary - less is often more, after all. Correct spelling and grammar is awesome! It makes things easier to read! As my English teacher wife says, there are few things sexier than knowing how to use a semicolon.

Story Before All Else:
I'm not big into graphic/gratuitous sex scenes or cruelty- inspired violence. The darkest aspects of human nature should never be buried, but (to me) it's crucial they are not included for the mere sake of including them. If something serves the story, go for it. Heck, I've written some pretty TWISTED stuff in years past. However, I subscribe to the Alfred Hitchcock philosophy that the unseen and unheard is often far more terrifying and unsettling than what is known.

Genre Preferences:
Sing me a song and I'll listen. Write a good story and I'll read it. I have RPed in the realms of modern, dystopian, space opera, science fiction, high fantasy, dark fantasy, steampunk, and "I don't even know what the hell this is!" I will RP anywhere with a good plot and richly-crafted characters.

Pleased to Meet You:
While I have a limited amount of time for writing and checking forums, I do thoroughly enjoy getting to know those I write with. We don't have to constantly be in contact, but I do think some degree of familiarity allows for better collaboration.

Family Man/Slave to the Money:
Please note that posting frequency has been an issue for me. If you're looking for daily (or thrice- daily) posts, I'm not your guy. Once a week is generally manageable. I have a full-time job with some big overtime commitments, two amazing kids, a wife that I really, really love and care about, and a mother with early onset Alzheimer's. RPing is a hobby for me. It cannot be my life's priority, however thoroughly I might enjoy it.

Characters:
I always create a new character when writing in a new setting. If there is anything specific that a GM might wish me to include, I will do so. I have just as much fun writing heroes as I do villains, but in between is also great!

Fan Fiction Vs. Original:
I will always gravitate towards original works, but am willing to go anywhere the story is good.

World Building:
I love creating entire worlds from scratch, and hope to do so again. I enjoy visiting other worlds as well.

Thread Ideas:

Fantasy
:

The Rapier Arias:
  • A dark fantasy set in a magic-infused world with early modern tech (clocks, early firearms, rapiers and stilettos) inspired by Baroque-era Europe (plumed hats, tabards, puffy white shirts, ridiculously ornate aesthetics). Think The Three Musketeers meets A Game of Thrones.
  • Each main story ("Song") will take the form of a large (6-7 writer) group RP. Smaller, supplemental RPs are also available to help flesh out the world and cater to those who prefer not to write in groups.
  • Links to old Rapier Arias threads: Song I: The Hooded Coachman IC, Group Request Thread (with IC Prelude), World Compendium (Lore), Dramatis Personae (for approved character sheets). Updates and a revamped IC are coming soon.
  • Supplement Ideas are currently CLOSED, but if life opens up I'll be happy to entertain them.
    • The Last Stand (1x1 to group). A take on The Seven Samurai/The Magnificent Seven, where wanderers, vagabonds, and outlaws defend a helpless village from an overwhelmingly superior enemy force. Can occur anywhere within the setting.
    • Court Intrigue (1x1, FILLED). Takes place in Lutrice or the Renjuguese Imperium. Characters are nobles with ambition to climb the power structure, and are either allied or rivals. They can be family, political allies, of different social ranks, etc. I see this as being plot heavy with intense dialogue and elaborate description, with relatively little graphic violence. It will be geographically contained, within a city or a large palace, with an extensive web of NPCs and the potential for multiple PCs.
    • Mercenary Escapades (1x1, FILLED): Either in the Corrmlandt Provinces or the Balazzi Principalities. Characters could be leaders of a mercenary company, a mercenary and his/her employer, or members of rival companies. I see this as a brutal, bloody, and battle-heavy tale. The plot would unfold in the midst of a major conflict as things continue to escalate.
    • Mageborn Hunt (1x1). Set in the Cirrish Empire. One character is a mageborn, the other a mage hunter. This is a straightforward story, as it's essentially a chase throughout the world. Both characters should be extremely flawed and battered. The plot occurs years into the chase, with the characters already having a rich history with one another.
Scifi:

Asteroid X: A few hundred years from now, the asteroid belt is a major vacation destination, a sort of Vegas of the cosmos. One asteroid in particular is a fully self- sufficient den of vice and bad behavior. What better place for the solar system's most wanted criminal to hide? As we descend deeper into the brightly lit alleyways, it may be revealed that there are far more nefarious plots than initially let on.

Post-Apocalyptic/Dystopian:

Zombie Defense Force, a Zombie Comedy: The zombie apocalypse has happened, and though many have tried convincing us that humans are the *real* monsters, let's not forget about the flesh-devouring undead freaks roaming around and annihilating civilization as we once knew it! Pitch thread is up HERE, and I'm accepting character sheet submissions.

Fan-Based:

00 (Double-O): James Bond-inspired plot. When MI-6 is destroyed and Bond himself is killed, it is up to the few remaining agents to sort out what happened (SPECTRE, what else?). I tried this on another site, but the players just didn't gel for some reason. Maybe it'd work here.

You know I'm up for playing with you Necca. I'm particularly interested in the Rapier Arias and Asteroid X ideas.

i would love to join in on the Rapier Arias world if you would like me to. It seems like a really intriguing concept and i would love to help it come to life

I tried clicking on the zombie link, but it says I have to login after that, and whenever I do it logs me out and tells me to login again....... any way you can fix that? Or did you take down the thread?

The thread's up and the link works for me. Maybe the cookie with your login for the site got deleted? The thread is also on the first page of
Seeking Larger Party—Group Requests.

Hello! I am really interested in building a story with you, but I was wondering if you'd be willing to play against a non-binary character or someone that doesn't stick to male or female genders? I know it's not for everyone, but I think we could write some really interesting stuff together.

Alright, life should slow down a bit starting next week. Work's been kicking my butt, and my son reacted to his one-year vaccines with a 104-degree fever.

Here's what's on my RP agenda in November:
1) Get the ZDF back up and running smoothly
2) Catch up with my other threads
3) Recruit writers for and launch the first "song" of The Rapier Arias.
4) If time, brainstorm some other ideas. I'm open to any good story. @Systemic, I'm looking at you (unless you'd like to join the ZDI or Rapier Arias?).

Updated The Rapier Arias section to indicate whether supplemental threads have been filled or if they remain open. Updated my son's age because he is most definitely not ten months old anymore!
