Isn't Flubnugget's character a human from Denhart though? How would that fit in?
"Maybe a couple" means they are there, but rare. Why would a human want to live there? Lol. But they're everywhere, just rare to find in Denhart and Vleug.

That's a good idea, I'll add that to the initial post, then maybe again here.

Hunting creatures:
Nannallia would probably see their creatures (unicorns and owlbears? Lol) as protected and sacred natural beings, right? I feel like you should have say over this, Nannallia is mostly your baby lol

The creatures around the forests of Karvia are mostly forest animals, probably. They'd have farmlands around there too, so you can probably hunt for sport unless you hunt a rare Karvian creature, maybe?

And the Vleugs have mostly flying creatures and island-bound animals. They probably do with them what they please. Maybe they don't have hunting laws, just a 'if you take my things I have a right to kill you' law? Idk

I think what's likely is that many creatures in Nannalia are considered sacred like you said, especially ones with a spiritual connotation or ones associated with certain types of Fae. Otherwise,. I think dragons that have gone rogue or things like beasts which threaten villages are A-okay to kill once approval has gone forward from either the local government or the crown.

Also I was thinking and what if my character was to meet with Allara each day for the pleasantries which the Nannalian crown had organized for certain important guests (aka spy targets.) ? Coming in the form of seemingly innocent poetry reading before bed, instrument playing before bed (a lot of things to do with the bed apparently lmao), walks outside in between meetings, etc

chess?

Maaaaan that sounds fun. Yes. Let's do it. You just suggested an amazing way to start shenanigans, and I am here for it.

I forgot about dragons being in this for a moment! I'm so excited to see your iteration of them, and man am I excited to write with them in mind. Like... a spot in Denhart is home to the remains of one of the largest dragons to have ever existed, and people don't even know why it's there... or that it is there! Fun times.

Oh, and also, I think it we should probably develop Karvia and Vleugs a bit more. Preferably with the input from @flubnugget and @Atomic Soul

Like Karvia, how did the Nation develop? Are the humans there descended from humans in other parts of the continent that came together with the basis of the technology and techniques from other civilizations and developed their own? What are the interactions between the lizard people and the humans like?

Yes I'd like that. I'd like others' opinions on them, too.

I'm gonna give you a rough image of what I see. The details have to be filled in ofc.

The Vleugs live on a large floating island, connected by bridges to smaller floating islands, where on some of the smaller ones, you have 'outcasts' living in different ways than most. The main island is home to 3 cities, each with their own academy. Large, fancy, beautiful, you name it. The cities are dappled in a golden-pink light during afternoons and a more pinkish purplish light during twilight. Sunsets are ridiculously beautiful, and nights are unparalleled. The stars are numerous and bright, so ofc they became astronomers too. Think idyllic city squares with a large majestic fountain in the middle, medieval-gothic-futuristic-elvish architecture (might be able to find a pic to convey the image), and an overall relaxed, peaceful atmosphere. People walking around with familiars, potion shops bubbling away and releasing alchemical scents, bakeries with strange and unique pastries and baked goods...

Maybe it's a stratified society, with the upper class living in big mansions, while the lower class live in large communal housing?

Ofc the royal family puts on a nice, beautiful front, but they're super evil and up to some nefarious shit.

Karvia might be cool if it was built by a human. From a small human civilisation to... finding buried relics about ancient techs they learn to make and see as a way to become a kingdom of their own right?

Oh and I forgot to say for Karvia: I see a large bustling city with a seaport and an airship port. They have an oligarchy perhaps, with a focus on being innovative, inventive and working with your hands. Maybe their nature is diminished, but they could have grasslands or a tundra surrounding them? Maybe they have icy plains? What do you think?

They have a jungle to the south so whatever works. I know Nannallia is mushroom forests and other magical terrain, as well as volcanoes to the north, Denhart is swamps and forests and icy mountains to the south and west, with caves in those ofc, a jungle is in the unclaimed lands to the east of Denhart, with cliff beaches and a white sand beach beneath that, underwater caves, etc. So what's Karvia like?

And what kind of nature do you think would be on the floating island(s) of Vleug?

What kind of nature is the annexed island? I know it's farmlands and a gigantic volcano...
We need to name them. The Workers? The Labourers? Some island name to hide their true nature?

Doesn't have to be Earth-based nature. Could be something entirely made up. Or from exoplanets :>

I was thinking of mostly Tundra, but it doesn't make sense for Karvia to have a massive port if it's that cold since the water would be frozen at least half of the year due to the lack of magic.

I don't really care that it doesn't make sense so I'm going to wedge the concept in that in Ancient ancient times when the advanced Faerie civilization was still thriving (I'm going to call it the Ancient Lavondrian civilization), the Faeries used the Tundra waters as a sea port of their own, mages enchanting the waters so that it would never freeze over despite the cold.

When the Lavondrian civilization receded and lost power, they lost control of the region and contracted into the Fae heartland (modern Nannalia), eventually the Vleugs took hold of the port, and when the Vleug Empire collapsed, humans took control of the port and later founded Karvia, drawing their borders where there was human majorities in the Tundra region.

I'm imagining sprawling grasslands filled with rocky streams and the red flowers that grow in the tundra (y'know what I'm talking about) that becomes laden with a thick blanket of snow in the colder months. This comprises most of the nature, but the population is increasingly becoming centralized in the hyper- industrial steampunk esque cities along the water

I'm also imagining that an icy, dangerously cold range of mountains separates the border between Karvia and Nannalia. This usually isn't a problem for either nation since the Nannalians have dragons and magic and the Karvians have steamships but it's hazardous nonetheless.

Okay, so Vleug could be mediterranean climate? Quite mild winters and hot summers? It probably would be tropical if it weren't for the high elevation. With that considered I see lots of trees (olive trees, cypresses) and bushels, some palms, lots of different flowers. To be honest I don't really know.

The annexes isle.. considering that it's main economy in the past was fishing and nowadays it's mainly controlled for facilitating the purposes of the Vleugs, who are probably in close proximity to the island I would say its tropical or at least mediterranean? Beaches and palms and such

Hi, Folks.
I recently bought League Of Legends "ARCANE" from Amazon and I'm dying to play a girl character with an outrageous gun.
Her 'thing' will be hunting Faerie "Monsters", like ogres, trolls and other monsters (maybe insane vampires) that like to eat sentient humanoids.
Any Objections?
So, I didn't want to make her a 'Mary Sue', so I designed her powers and abilities using Steve Jackson Games G.U.R.P.S.
Other than her 'big-ass-gun', she can probably hold her own against 'low-level & normal' opponents, but the gun is the equalizer for the big stuff.

"Sister" Yaynie Eenspel ( G.U.R.P.S. 125 Point Character )
Novice of the Order of Protection and Vengeance.
Human, Female, 18 years old, 1.47 meters tall, 41 kg, long brown hair, light sand colored skin.
Backstory: A Survivor of a gypsy family that was attacked by Fae Trolls. She was found by traveling merchants a day later and was soon taken to an orphanage. A "Brother" in the Order of Protection and Vengeance stopped at the orphanage to hear her story and she convinced him to take her with him so that she could be trained and one day become a member of the Order.

@RK. Since you're the official authority on Nannallia, I think it's your call if such monsters are huntable/roam that place lol, truthfully I didn't think about it before but I think it could be cool. This is the kind of thing we get from the group aspect :)

Substitue the word "Fae" for the word "Witch".

Yeah probably. Probably things like Griffins, trolls, ogres, rogue dragons, etc.

I think most of the time they do not attack fae unprovoked or Fae know how to deal with them to avoid escalation, but human travelers probably don't.

culturally it would probably be seen as a front to Fae society, but prosecution for such a crime probably isn't inflicted unless you're driving a species to extinction or it's conducted in a wilderness area

Also how do you plan on taking her to the diplomatic meetings Ungood?

I'd like thoughts on these too

Sister Yaynie, at this stage of her life, probably isn't a senior or experienced enough to represent anyone in a diplomatic meeting, unless as a kind of 'investigating officer'. So I'd create another character (PC/NPC) to represent her quasi-religious Order.

I imagine that the OoPaV, politically, is supposed to work as a deterent force, then as a protective force and finally a force or retribution. If the kingdoms, duchies, counties & baronies where law enforcement is overworked, insufficient or turns a blind eye, then the Order would try to fill the void in that region. The regions' officials might think of them as 'helping hands' (like the Guardian Angels in today's NYC) or as vigilantes (like the KKK), but maybe the populace have been showing support and the various nobles would prefer not to deal with them unless the excrement collides with the rotating impeller.

OoPaV might also be a force to use against groups of bandits, human or otherwise.

Would anyone object to my officially creating The Order of Protection and Vengeance as a group with 'monasteries' in multiple localities? There might even be a branch in Nannallia, to combat murderous humans.

I could model them as a western knightly order or perhaps something eastern like the Shaolin.

Okay I think this is really cool.

I envision a knightly thing, who also fight for armies given monetary loyalty and maintain a neutral position in political affairs as well as in intervening regional troubles and smaller criminal factions like you mentioned. They could operate kind of similar to the Cossacks military system, where the OoPaV serve in exchange for resources and funds as a means to maintain the order and influence, as well as special rights.

I think a sort of neutral party would be a really good addition to the political climate

Maybe they could be empowered by some sort of deity, given enhanced abilities in exchange for worship.

I like this idea of a deity. How about a binary goddess of woman and she-werewolf?

Yeah sounds cool. Maybe higher members of the order can unleash this sort of "inner-beast" on the battle field, channeling the wolf essence of this deity
