Ship: Komodo-class Auxiliary/Supply Runner "Dirtside"

Captain of the "Dirtside", Akerj Moon, runs a tight enough ship to keep a crew without driving everyone mad with demands. Takes are split equally among the crew, no matter contribution, and any profit leftover is utilized per the consensus of the entire ship.
Job type varies, but tends to stick on the legal side. Most illicit work takes the form of private "offensive-defense" operations (as Aker has taken to calling them). Essentially, hired guns, if the cause is amenable to the crew.

Consensus is the name of the game outside of emergent situations, wherein by authority defaults to a chain of command: Captain Aker > First Mate Penny > Pilot Cybil > Engineer Derc > Crew Chief Shi > Quartermaster Pater > Whoever's Left

Akerj is the captain of the Komodo-class transport ship he calls Dirtside. A veteran of the anti-war movement in his youth, Akerj spent his post-war years working a ship's crew in the Core Worlds before acquiring Dirtside and striking out on his own. His original crew consists of the siblings Cybil and Derc Gimbal, who own Dirtside and allow Aker to captain it, and Shi Qiang, a former Independence soldier.

In the volatile post-Miranda years, Akerj acquired more crew, and a typically more militant job set. The rise of new anti-Alliance groups during the intervening years had led to a spike in peacekeeping work and a loosening of Alliance regulation of personal vessels closer to the Core. Akerj was able to install illicitly-acquired and well-hidden armaments in the bow sections of his ship, giving his crew an edge during rough-work in the Border territories.

Amira is a registered Companion from the school of Học Viện on Bernadette, one of the smaller Core planets. She was awarded a place due to her Uncle, a prominent politician, although her own familial status was non existent. She worked hard to earn her place and was awarded Guild membership at 21.

She was just starting to build her clientele and gain repeat customers when a young prominent man was outed as a Brown Coat sympathizer and sought refuse in a "long term engagement " with her. When it became known that she was harboring a fugitive, she was removed from the school. It was only due to her Uncle's status that she was not stripped of her Guild membership.

She soon entered into a contract with the Captain of Dirtside, who's regulations stipulated that she would also use her skills regularly as a member of the crew. Knowing she had few options and with a desire to prove herself, she accepted the contract.
