New Forum, Old Hobby

Hello all!

It's been a while since I RPed on any sort of forum (probably 10-15 years), but back in the day, I used to be pretty active on forums themed around the Percy Jackson universe, the Marauders, and Warrior cats (lol). I have always really enjoyed writing my own creative fiction and original content, but as a lit studies grad student, I spend a lot of my time working on academic writing instead of writing I choose to do. That's part of the reason I've decided to join this site, so I can get back into writing purely for the love of the craft!

I really love first person narration styles, specifically anything akin to stream of consciousness. I do have a soft spot in my heart for third person though, especially when it comes to fantasy epics with lots of characters and perspectives.

Here are some of my favorite books/short stories:

• The Scorpio Races - Maggie Stiefvater
• The Leviathan trilogy - Scott Westerfeld

I usually play women characters, but truth be told, it's been so long since I've truly RPed that I feel like I don't really know my personal style anymore (a lot can change in a decade). I do know I definitely am more of a character-driven writer; I love getting into a character's psyche and exploring how and why they do things. I also always enjoy a coming-of-age narrative and anything that explores the influence of guilt and shame on the human mind (self-flagellation or bust), therefore I have tended to gravitate towards angsty characters in the past. On a lighter note, I also really love world-building with humanoid dragons and fantasy paleontology, so hmu if that seems along your wavelength.
