Salutations!
I am Max though I answer to various names in that vein like Maximus, Maximilian, Maximillions, etc. People like to elongate my name, perhaps due to its natural brevity,
I'm 30 but turning 31 in like... 2 weeks? I'm based in Ireland, which is a useful thing to know for time zone considerations. I'm a trans guy--though I'll sometimes tack non-binary onto that depending on my humour--and use he/him, but I can be flexible enough so long as you don't use she/her.
I have been writing on the internet in one form or another for 16 years or so. I've bounced around a fair bit though I started on Hogwarts Extreme (I still have access to some of my oldest writing and OH BOY!), have been through very organised, single-world places like Mizahar, Standing Trials and Thorns, and I've written with people via email and Discord. I've had the privilege to write alongside some wonderfully creative people and picked up tips and tricks, but I've also probably picked up some woeful habits as well. I do things with punctuation that I shouldn't, there are grammar conventions that I have probably forgotten or simply choose not to follow (I split infinitives, which various pieces of software editors will complain about--so shoot me), and I have been known to slip in Hiberno-English idiomatic phrases without realising that they actually are idioms.
I have not written in quite some time so I am rusty--fair warning--but I have definitely missed it; my various attempts to get back into writing have spluttered and died. Sometimes inspiration is difficult to come by, sometimes things don't quite work out with a partner, sometimes I get distracted and my poor sense of time kicks in. I have been known to continue a thread with someone over multiple years where there are literal months between posts so I can be stubborn and persistent provided that all parties are willing to be the same.
My day job consists of a mix of tech support and application development where I'm part of a team that's too small, responsible for too many things, and required to work for people who generally have no idea what they're doing. As a result, sometimes I have zero brain cells during and after work, and other times, my brain is all go so I do not know what kind of promises I can make in terms of frequency of replies, but we'll see how it goes.
Writing, writing, what do I actually write? Many things! Based on sights that I've listed, you can gather that I am interested in fantasy and I do admit to having a soft spot for Harry Potter things to this day despite the author... ahem, but I also enjoy science-fiction and horror. I like to read, I like to watch films, and play video games so I have a lot of potential tropes, themes, and inspirations to draw on. I tend to avoid romance as a genre that I consume, but my writing usually revolves around it as I enjoy the friction that can exist in relationships.
I love angst, I love misery, I enjoy making characters suffer. I also feel as if I like making other people suffer because I don't think I've narrowed down many things here. I'll get my thoughts in order at some point, reach out to people or make my own seeking thread but we'll see. In the meantime, have some word vomit.
Lovely to be here and I'm excited to nose around and meet some cool new people!
By the way, if you recognise my thread title as a reference to Fra/Fred from Control Resonant then we should be friends... unless you don't like Remedyverse things, in which case I'll cry instead :)
