Autumnal The Haunted House Escape - OPEN - Anyone can join in at any time!

Me just waiting like SOMEONE DO SOMETHING!!!

Sonder stands bravely under the spiraling object floating in the air, showing no signs of fear even as some vengeful spirit threw a tantrum with several shoes and the very umbrella that was ripped away so suddenly and pulled up toward the high ceiling!

The card under the glow reads:

If I had a dollar for every time I planned to buy you an expensive gift...

I'd actually be able to buy you an expensive gift.
Happy Birthday!

A dollar for each year I missed!
All jokes aside, I hope to get back home to you next month.
I miss you! -L

Before there is a real chance to flip it over, or to look at the envelope closely, the umbrella, as if it was outraged at the lack of fear in the room, falls straight down and closes over Sonder. The sight is so unreal, it looks like it belongs in a cartoon!

The glow around the umbrella stops and the force that keeps Sonder trapped ceases.

The room is dark once more.

Ummm I think it has been at least four minutes since I posted.

[[ @Jumbled I listen to all the exposition about numbers and birthdays and such and I decide that - since I routinely walk around my own house at night with all the lights off - I am uniquely qualified to try the keypad in these circumstances. And just in case I'm not, I turn around and ask firefly to walk up and light up the room.

The code I attempt to input is: 2-3-2-8-1-8 ]]

(sorry-ish for not debating this more but it's been a minute and I really think Rei got the combination right!)

(( Lol, Sass the card is up above! Post 63! ))

Let's try it.

[[I loudly proclaim "Dammit, that umbrella is as frightening as a 4AM ping from Jum"]]

The keypad lights up in yellow after the first touch. With every push there is a gentle beep.
After the fifth number is entered, the keypad flashes red, and it angrily beeps in error.

It lights up once again as the last digit it pressed, as if Rime started over a five digit code.

A random shoe is thrown at James. It was definitely the ghost and not the GM.

The room remained colder than one might expect. The umbrella drops to the floor lifelessly, as if it would rather do anything than help any of you.

The ghost never seems to sense Rime, though, because he is secretly a demon and can walk though any haunted house with 0% sanity and nothing happens.

Unfortunately in the haste of punching in a new 5 digit code, with the number 8 still active, the keypad once again flashes red in error and a new guess has begun again. It, too, it now starting with "8"
