Happy Anniversary Sanctum Dwellers!!!
This week marks the third anniversary of the founding of the Inner Sanctum. In those three years, we have grown from a small group of writers seeking a sanctum where we could write on our own terms, by our own standards and free from drama or distraction, into a vast community of hundreds of active writers. I'd like to start out this month by extending my thanks to my fellow admins for their tireless efforts and from all of us, towards the staff that volunteer their time to keep this site running smoothly. More than anything though, I wish to extend our thanks to our users, new and old, without whom none of what this site has become would ever have been possible. Your sharing of your writing, participation in the site, welcoming of new users and voting to keep the site on top have been exemplary.
For the month ahead, we have a number of activities planned to celebrate our anniversary! But first, we'd like to extend our thanks to everyone by announcing two brand new features that we hope will make writing on the Sanctum an even more rewarding experience:
Thread Covers:
This new add-on, similar to the profile covers added a few months back, enables users to personalize their work, this time by allowing all threads to have a cover image placed at the top. This image will act as a banner for the thread, appearing on every page and allowing ways to make your request thread, roleplay threads and solo work your own.
The only stipulations are:
1. All thread cover images must be agreed on by all thread participants. The thread creator is the only one who can set one, but their partner must agree both that they want a cover image and on the image that is set
2. All site image rules apply and will be strictly enforced. Users posting vulgar, pornographic or otherwise inappropriate thread covers will see them removed and will have their ability to post future ones taken away without notice. If you aren't certain an image is appropriate, either ask a staff member or take the safe option and choose something milder
3. GIFs are not permitted, nor are any images that are designed to irritate, distract or otherwise abuse the feature
4. No images which depict or appear to depict children or child-like characters are permitted
Roleplay Adoption Forum:
An often requested feature, we have decided to add this new, fifth request forum to help bring the spark of life back into roleplays which have died.
The details and rules of this new forum can be found here. They are designed with the goal of allowing threads to be restarted or continued while still setting reasonable standards to protect the work people have put into their threads. By necessity, posts in this forum are more restricted than in our other request forums, but we have confidence in our staff and users to make this new forum a useful addition to the site.
Events we have planned for April:
1. A new monthly writing challenge has been posted for the poets amongst you.
2. A site art challenge is now underway that uses the new Thread Covers feature to let users make a lasting mark on the Sanctum!
3. A comedy movie night will be held on Saturday, April 6th as part of our celebrations (movie suggestions welcome)
4. Ahead of the release of Avenger's Endgame in late April, we will be doing a Marvel Movie night on Saturday, April 20th. Exact film lineup will be announced later in the month!!
