Attention: This roleplay is a spin-off--called a "Saga"--of a pre-existing original roleplay!

The Monarchs is a group roleplay that shares a setting with A Brave New World, so look there for background information. The plot will run parallel to the main plot for A Brave New World.

The story of the Monarchs will focus on a group of survivors, who are on the run from tyrants, known as the Monarchs. The Monarchs were formerly an Advance Expedition Team defected from the Salvation not long after it landed. They have set up their own little monarchies that are loosely aligned with one another far outside of the operational range of the Salvation's Military and Rescue Teams. The Monarchs frequently abduct survivors from escape shuttles and either enslave or coerce them into joining their monarchies.

Plot Overview

So the crux of this plot is survival. The characters are newly awakened from their cryopods, and all they really known is that a group of villains called the Monarchs are looking to capture them. As we progress we can solidify a direction for the plot. Do we want to take down the Monarchs or try to escape them? Maybe there's something else we can do. Your input is very valuable, and I'm always open to communication.

Characters

As with the main plot, I'll be allowing three character types: Shapers, Knights, and Standard Humans. All characters will be posted in this thread and in the main thread.

This group is intended for four players. Spots have already been reserved for myself and @Lochem. @Ajar has already submitted a character application. As of right now, I am looking for one additional player.

@Ajar plays Nina:
Nina Maria Anterre

Ana-Masacote-3-1000x667.jpg

Gender: Female
Age: 34
Hair: Dirty Blond
Eyes: Dark Brown

Notable Characteristics: Small "Estacia" tattoo on right hand.

___________________

Nina was identified at an early age as a bright child. She was fast tracked into the sciences and spent most of her adolescent life studying in a competitive environment. She did well, and eventually graduated out of the program with second-degree honors. Her life immediately after graduation was a little rough, but she doesn't like to talk much about those years. She eventually recovered, though, and managed to get hired on the "Salvation" as a Environmental Expert. Professionally, she has a background in many biological sciences, but specializes in Microbiology.

Personally, Nina is somewhat reserved and has some trust issues. She hasn't had much luck in interpersonal relationships, from cold parents to verbally abusive exes, and is less than excited to try again. She is, however, very professional, and throws herself into work whenever she's feeling down.

@Krunch plays Kane:

Minus the rifle.

Without armor

Gender: Male
Age: 28
Hair: Chestnut
Eyes: Baby blue

Notable Characteristics: A Tri-Network Milspec arm has replaced his left, the original lost in an industrial accident long ago.

___________________

The Triple Network Combine worked closely with the Cradle project insofar as providing security services. TNC officers are corporate, enforcing a polite attitude among their own ranks during interactions with colonists, under threat of bankruptcy. Maximilian was one such officer. He hired on almost entirely due to the fact that the TNC medical plan would cover his lost arm, and has been paying it off for quite a while. He's a man whom one might find smiling for little reason, punctuated by some early forming laugh lines about his eyes.

Early in his life, he worked steel mills on Earth, a profession his father had gotten him into. He lost his arm to carelessness on one tired day, devoured by gnashing machinery. All hope was lost in his family, until his father, who had risen through the ranks of that same steel mill, pulled every string available. He would sign on with an ambitious new plan, acting as a prosthetics poster child for the Tri-Network Combine among the stars.

The man begrudgingly played his part during informational campaigns, bolstering recruitment. And though he was unhappy being used as a model, his job duties were real enough, and the pay was decent despite a chunk of it covering his prosthetic replacement.
