Some miscellaneous facts I don't have any place for yet:
- Atlantis' official armor and steed looks like this. With the exception of a black-colored steel as the main material with a silver engraved royal coat of arms on the breast plate and shield that catches light very easily. The cloak is crimson in color.
- His horse, Aeneas', mane is braided like this when it isn't set free. It's braided in many plaits like that when going on long journeys. It is braided in a single thick braid close to its neck like this when going to battle.
- He ties his hair up in a high ponytail when wearing his armor like the first reference picture. Strangely enough, his hair has survived many battles with minimal damage/being chopped off. If he's REALLY concerned, he'll put it in a braid and tuck it inside his armor. Yes, it's itchy, but it's only for dire circumstances and he's quick to free it once danger subsides.
- Atlantis' lineage hails from Eastern Thalvar, near the shores. His father settled in the capital following his knighting by the King after being recruited for his exceptional skills. The people of that region are known to be exceptionally beautiful, men and women alike. Many noble houses enjoy marrying the people of that area, even if they aren't necessarily wealthy or powerful. Rumors state that it was the home shores to a race of sirens that once enchanted stranded sailors from many centuries ago and claimed their lives when they had them in their grasps. However, after some time, they began assimilating with humans for some reason and ceased to exist as pureblooded creatures of the sea. As such, they say Eastern Thalvarians are descendants of sirens and that is why they are so unusually captivating - they still have siren blood coursing in their veins to this very day. Additionally, all Eastern Thalvarians have the characteristic pigmentation around their eyes that Atlantis has, which make for a striking appearance and draws attention to their eyes.
- Eastern Thalvar maintains its economy by fishing and selling the rare and unique shells and pearls they extract at the shores. It mainly sends its exports to the capital but does trade on occasion with foreign merchants. The region isn't very wealthy nor is it in poverty. A modest place with faces that all look like they could belong at the royal court.
Atlantis was not impressed by Emrys' generic answer. It was evident he was avoiding the question. Having crossed blades with countless soldiers, knights, captains, commanders and even mythical beasts, the significant pace with which they exterminated the Gloamfang beasts in the past year was accelerated by something that had not existed in this land ever before. That was a verdict Atlantis could come to even without the King's intelligence, solely based upon his personal experience. The Duke did not want to give away his secrets freely. Atlantis would have to work for this, much to his dismay. It could prove to be a long night - all Atlantis wanted was to collapse somewhere and sleep until spring, whether it be on this very floor or on a bed of hay in the stables beside Aeneas, he truly did not mind.
His eyebrow shot up when he heard of Emrys' time in Arven. How curious? For some comical reason, he would have believed Emrys never journeyed further than 20 leagues from Morcain. The man seemed so... rooted within these formidable high walls. To add, the lack of contact between the capital and duchy certainly could have made one believe neither knew of the other's existence. He began to wonder about his purpose staying in the capital.
Atlantis returned the book to its place on the shelf and slowly walked over to the seat, his metal boots clunking heavily on the wooden floors, as did the rest of his armor when they shifted along with his movement. With his full suit of armor, he was a towering presence in the otherwise modest and practical office the Duke seemed to prefer. Even the blacksteel's natural glimmer in moonlight could not distract from the numerous scratches and scrapes that covered the worn armor from helmet to toe when examined up close. His violent form was sorely unsuited in a polished and civilized study such as this. As he sat down, he spread his legs freely and rested his ankle on his knee, leaning back into the soft cushion as he rested his elbows on the arms of the chair and clasped his hands together. He was rather relaxed for the conversation he was to enter but his body practically moved of its own volition as soon as it made contact with a comfortable spot. It'd prefer to enjoy this brief respite for now in the event that he may be ousted imminently by the Duke in his anger in reaction to the ridiculous order.
He locked eyes with Emrys as he spoke, holding it without an ounce of fear or shame and spoke as naturally as if he were asking for a piece of bread.
"His Majesty, the ruler of the Crown and the kingdom of Arvencia, inquires about the supposed new weapons Your Grace has been producing as of late. He graciously sympathizes with your wish to keep the matter private seeing as you have not informed the capital of these developments even to this very day and has sent one of his most trusted retainers to protect you on your journey back to Arven. This arrangement is both discreet and safe, considering the sensitive nature with which you approached this matter. Once in the capital, Your Grace is to present your weapons in full detail before His Majesty and stay for further discussions."
Truthfully, Atlantis was supposed to be much more prudent about this. He needed to
