I'd suggest both, because some favouritism when allocating her magical gifts would be exactly how Nicole would handle such a situation. If Caroline's father's forge occasionally handles metallurgy when the church needs something repaired, Nicole would be happy to put some outside-hours free miraclework to use, hoping they'll consider it when determining their fee next time.I'm fine with Caroline and Nicole knowing each other. Not necessarily as friends, but as having met a few times, whether on business or perhaps a workplace injury at the forge that required a healer's touch.
Absolutely! If you want to have Sage (playfully) toss a dagger at Vel's head, he would love that LOL I'm cool with anything that works for your character. I like your ideas, maybe Vel was once hired to help escort a procession of acolytes through some dangerous territory and he and Sage hit it off, or they were both hired as guards. Whatever it may be they can for sure know each other. Sounds fun@Belineth could I suggest that they have been to at least one demon hunting mission? They might have had a bit of competition of throwing knives during their camping or resting hours. Vel could have also tutored him in bits of techniques in stealth and daggers.
Im loving the discussion! The Church isn't doing this for the money? XD
@Crijns I am very much for that. They could stare at each other for a minute in acknowledgement before one speaks up.
I would say everyone involving with the church, she had seen or interacted at least once.

@JSJ_2004 will it be too much to know Hainer when she visits the city's training grounds for rehabilitation?
Sorry, I somehow missed the question in your post! To answer the question: yes, a kid showing magic would also lead to an execution for the child. Or some sort of banishment at the very least@Crijns yeah I think that dynamic makes a lot of sense. I'll write it so they had some cold uncomfortable interactions in training. He would have a degree of slight personal bitterness seeing Nicole excel at healing magic. He wanted to learn healing due to his own exposure to people passing from easily treated illnesses as a child due to poverty. It would not sit well with him that he saw an acolyte of a wealthy privileged background was making leaps and bounds in it, while he found his own progress standing still. I don't think he would have a way of knowing that healing was not her passion and her preference, but I think might be relevant later. Likely relates to Nicole when he saw her struggle with other magic and wonders about what she wanted to wield tho. I'm imagining generally polite if stiff and awkwardly blunt interaction from Linus on his end.
I realized there's a little bit of a plot hole in my character having performed magic in front of a priestess of the church while being uninitiated. But I think it can be explained by the fact he saved her life, and he was an orphan child so she's much more likely to keep things discreet, show mercy, and just fold him into the church. However, Linus would have felt some pretty intense terror of being executed when he realized the implications of what he did. @JSJ_2004 Is the practice of magic forbidden to the extent a child showing the use of it could possibly lead to execution?
@Ai-in Ayan I think considering Salvia is older and has similar magic expertise to Linus, tho he has not gone into combat yet, he has likely heard of and admires Salvia. Linus isn't yet an official warrior of the Church, but likely would have been soon. Once he joined the Church's military force he'd probably be a shielder using to barriers defend and chains to hinder rather than a scout that entraps enemies. Linus probably would be more in the fray, not quite a paladin, but engaged in and out of direct combat. Maybe Linus has met Salvia at the library and briefly asks about combat stories out of curiosity for his own future, or potentially questions about defense magic. He likely would have pleasant interactions, though awkward ones with Salvia. I can see him finding her a bit inscrutable and hard to follow, his brain is much more linear and concrete. Her cheerful and openly curious attitude would be appreciated by Linus, if not mirrored back. It's something that would make him feel more at ease than the calculating and subtle interaction many at the Church might have. What are you thinking in terms of how the characters relate?
No, it's totally fine: it's possible a priestess would keep it a secret, if such circumstances happened! No need to really re-work that part :)@JSJ_2004 Would you like me to change the backstory? Or do you think it's plausible that a priestess would hide it after being saved by said child and send him to a monastery? I didn't think it thru, so I'm fine adjusting that a bit.
That did sound a bit like Vel at first… I think you did that to scare me LOLMade a post! Figured I would put some sort excitement in the market. I know Vel Is a thief, but don't worry it's not about him haha. It's another random, poor thief that I made for the purpose of the post. If anyone wants to interact with Hainer as well, he's there!

I would say 'when Nicole meets Vel' to be far more likely. My guess is that all hell is going to break lose at some point, they are in a world with actual demons after all, and this is a dark fantasy. At some point we are likely all going to come together as a group in order to be ripped up by a horde of demons. I hope!Perhaps they do, above the station of most characters we have, but the opening post specifies many members will help people in need and do not expect payment for their miracles. So I figured it'd be like a ''Do not thank us, thank the Creator'' PR-angle, and someone like Nicole who has the (in their eyes Creator-given) talent for magic would be expected to put it to use for the church at least periodically. I'm sure someone offering coin (for the Church) could turn a priest's head if they needed someone healed quickly, but the phrasing indicated it's given out for free or 'free' as well.
Nicole at least helps people for free from time to time, even if she doesn't care about the masses a great deal: she does it because it's a good view for her and her church both towards the city and inside the church at large (and in some cases, like Caroline's business, she'd hope to gain some future favour). One could also buy her time, since being responsible for a good-sized donation would also increase her standing, and someone upper-class could just ask for her and she'd be likely to oblige (but none of the characters here qualify for that, I'm afraid).
If and when Nicole meets Vel.. yeah she won't care for him much.
Are we going to be seeing someone rescuing an acolyte/damsel? XDI would say 'when Nicole meets Vel' to be far more likely. Could do this and maybe have her drag Linus somewhere else when duties are not in the way, mostly to the training field. Though the stories, he would have to ask the paladins as Salvia would just give off broken answers or weird recreations of what has happened. And from what I have read, he is like the errand boy of Father Benjamin? Salvia might help in saving his butt from overworking from boring stuff.@Ai-in Ayan I think considering Salvia is older and has similar magic expertise to Linus, tho he has not gone into combat yet, he has likely heard of and admires Salvia. Well, this chapter is mostly a shorter one and it's pretty much just intended to get things going and set up And introduction - but also a way for the players to get a feel and ease into the roleplay! With that said, I am probably going to put a few things here and there that will also provide a bit of steam to the plotA
Are we going to be seeing someone rescuing an acolyte/damsel? XD
Hoping to intervene just for the sake of comedy and other things >.>
But Belenith does have a point here. What is the chapter's main goal. Is it to introduce the characters or is there far more sinister things afoot?
