The House of Ravenscroft (Paternal Line)
The shadow manipulation that defines Damien’s abilities is an ancestral power passed exclusively through the Ravenscroft male line. It is a magic of subtle dominion, spatial awareness, and raw dark-matter manipulation... one that has built, protected, and occasionally threatened the family empire.

Lord Malachi Ravenscroft, 2nd Earl of Ravenscroft

Using an unrefined, brutal form of shadow weaving, he created used his shadow clones to take our his adversaries, he dispatched them to assassinate political rivals, and attempted to bend the regional gentry to his absolute will. He viewed shadow magic not as a tool for subtlety, but as proof of a divine right to rule.
The Downfall: His tyrannical reign was brought to a bloody end by his own son, Alistair, who recognized that Malachi’s descent into madness and evil would destroy the house and continue to endanger countless innocent lives. Alistair set to planning, he orchestrated a calculated trap that heavily depending upon precising timing He lured Malachi into a sunlit courtyard during an eclipse and executed him as the light returned... thus ending the mad shadow lord and allowing for redemption to be had for the Ravenscroft name.

Grandfather: Lord Alistair Ravenscroft, 3rd Earl of Ravenscroft
Lore: Celebrated as the savior of the family name, Alistair was a cold, pragmatic man who spent his life undoing Malachi’s chaos. Grandmother: Lady Genevieve Ravenscroft (née Vance)
Lore: A woman of immense poise and formidable social intellect from an old northern family. She brought stability and vast coal-mining fortunes to the estate, helping reconstruct the family’s standing in high society after the scandal of Malachi’s terror upon the ton.
The Father
Lord Julian Ravenscroft, 4th Earl of Ravenscroft
Lore: Damien’s father was a reserved, deeply intellectual man who inherited the shadow powers but chose to use them almost entirely for counter-espionage and estate protection. He was a master of the quiet, architectural noir aesthetic that Damien would later perfect. Julian was a distant but highly disciplined father who taught Damien how to control his clones, navigate light limitations, and maintain absolute emotional composure under pressure.
The House of Vane (Maternal Line)
While the Ravenscrofts command the dark, Damien’s mother hails from the ancient House of Vane—a lineage possessing Auditory Manipulation. Rather than altering light or physical space, the Vanes manipulate frequency, sound waves, and human auditory perception.
Damien inherited none of the Vane magic, remaining a pure shadow Weaver of the Ravenscroft line. However, growing up around the Vanes shaped his tactical training.
The Maternal Grandparents
Grandfather: Lord Bartholomew Vane
Lore: A prominent diplomat and scholar of acoustics who used subtle resonance manipulation to command attention in Parliament and detect lies by reading the vibrational shifts in a person's voice.
Grandmother: Lady Evangeline Vane (Maiden name: St. Claire)

The Mother
Lady Cordelia Ravenscroft (Maiden name: Vane)
Lore: A serene, deeply perceptive woman whose Acoustic Weaving allowed her to hear a whispered secret from across a crowded ballroom or project her voice into a room as a silent thread.
