8 Inhumans were supposed to be interviewed. After the 4 pcs finished theirs, #5 was being interviewed when one of the three remaining outside killed one of the guards. The guards subdued the offender, then executed all three of the people in the waiting room. The warden broke up the interview, took #5, who's as good as dead, and tried to take the 4 who were already interviewed. Hines refused, which is good, because dollars to donuts, we'd have all had 'accidents' before tomorrow came.

First Name: Joseph
Middle Name: Rex
Last Name: King
Date of birth: June 21st, 2010
Birthplace: Cleveland, Ohio
Registration Status: Declared after public discovery.

Power/s: Joseph King is a telepath whose only ability seems to resemble what the layman calls mind control. After establishing a mental link to a subject, King subverts the subject's conscious decision-making through sheer force of will. At that point, the subject's behavior is entirely the result of King's mental instruction, whether general or specific. His control over the subject abruptly ends at the moment King severs the mental link, which he can do at will.
Upon severing, the subject recalls all events that transpired while under King's control as being the result of their own choice and free will, even if they cannot invent a reason as to why they might have made strange choices contradictory to their nature and loyalties.
Without creating a link or much concentration at all, King can constantly sense the general conscious desires of those within his effective linking range. Because his power is centered around desire, King cannot read specific conscious thought, unconscious thought, or archived/forgotten memory.

Limitations: All tests, observations, and reports from King himself indicate he can only establish a mental link with those he is able to see in person, and whom he is within fairly close physical proximity; the hard limit is estimated to be about 100ft. King claims he has surpassed this distance limit by achieving genuine eye contact with a subject, though real eye contact across a distance of over 100ft is certainly a rarity. Once a subject is under King's control, he reports there is no limiting distance between himself and the subject at which the mental link begins to deteriorate. This claim has not yet been tested. The number of seperate subjects King can control at once seems to vary depending on the people he selects. He once compared mind control to walking a dog, and effectively said that the number of dogs a person can walk at a time really depends upon the kind of dogs they're walking. There is no data currently available to corroborate this analogy or throw it into question.

Weakness/es: About 4 out of 10 people seem entirely immune to King's control, and when questioned about this he replied that control requires victory in a battle of will. Those with stronger mental fortitude (or in essence, greater determination,) than King are safe from his control, though he can still sense their desires passively. Because Joseph King was an unemployed 21 year old degenerate living with his parents upon his declaration of powers and subsequent incarceration, his mental fortitude is dubious, at best. When drawing from a force made up of hardened professionals and ex-soldiers, finding BIA personnel immune to King's ability to serve as his handlers wasn't difficult in the slightest.
King's fellow inhumans have also proven immune to his control, though apparently for different reasons. King has simply called the endeavor "...a language I don't understand." When asked if it was a language he could learn, King replied "D'you think you could learn Latin if enough people just spoke Latin at you? Without a translator, a teacher.... I dunno. Probably never."
Note: the following claim is unverified, hotly contested by BIA personnel, and currently being investigated. Caution and diligence are advised. According to King, lying with intent to deceive greatly dulls his powers for a time, and causes him intense mental discomfort. He also claims this has been the case since his powers manifested. Multiple BIA personnel have noted that sarcasm clearly causes King no kind of discomfort at all, which is a conversational tool which involves stating a falsehood. Though skepticism is understandable and encouraged in this case, it is also worth noting that the vast majority of verified information currently had on King's abilities was first offered by him to BIA staff, with little to no interrogation or prompting, and was later verified as accurate.
Of course, Joseph's honesty could be due to his most exploitable weakness of all, his younger sister: Harmony King, age 17, who is currently detained in a juvenile correctional facility just outside Ridgway, PA, due to combative behavior with school staff, hate speech, and being reported as an active shooter risk. Harmony King is likely the reason why, since turning himself in, Joseph has been extremely docile and amenable with the BIA, with a stellar behavioral record. Though he occasionally speaks out of turn, any mention of his sister quickly corrects such impertinence.

Distinguishing Marks: Joseph Rex King is an unremarkable young man with a pale complexion, thin build, and little muscle mass. Standing at 5'11" and weighing 155lbs, his physical strength is negligible. His choppy black hair was of course shaved completely during processing; standard procedure for anyone with mental abilities, so as to expedite brain scans. He has expressed no desire to grow his hair out since his research trial period ended, and so he remains completely bald. He reportedly once asked to have a blue arrow tattooed across his head. His request of course fell outside BIA protocol and was denied. King has a small brown birthmark just above his left ankle, and a scar about 1.5 inches long behind his left ear, apparently from a bike crash at age 10.

Family
Father: Charles Jason King. USMC, 16 year career. Retired. Ineligible for service as an HCO. Reason: deviant political views.
Mother: Harriet Pressley King. Senior VP of Marketing at Sertitech: secure data management solutions and traffic analytics. Banned from attending Sheffield school district meetings in-person until Harmony has graduated.
Sister: Harmony King. Age 17. Already discussed at length. Firearms enthusiast. Political activist. Political extremist. Currently detained.

School Career
Joseph King spent his childhood and adolescent years being repeatedly told by teachers and school counselors that he needed only apply his intellect to receive top grades. He never did, and he never did. He got in enough trouble to draw heat but never enough trouble that it stuck. He graduated high school without a job and didn't have one up to the day of his incarceration.

Initiating Incident: On August 29th, 2031 at approximately 11:30am, Joseph Rex King walks into the student correction office of Avon Lake High School. He immediately uses his ability on the two employees at the reception desk: subjects A and B. The school is empty of students, as Avon Lake will not begin the academic year until early September. Joseph had learned that morning that his sister Harmony had been suspended from Avon Lake High before the school year had even started due to a social media post that Harmony had reposted containing politically deviant rhetoric and hate speech, which had been brought to the attention of the student congress and the correction office. Joseph had decided that morning that his sister's suspension would be lifted before the end of the day.

As subjects A and B busily sort through paper files and online records to find what Joseph needs, a third employee, subject C, enters through the front office door, and asks Joseph if there's anything he can help him with. Joseph uses his power on this man as well. Apparently following a mental directive along the lines of "Get behind the desk and help those two," subject C walks to the reception desk and climbs halfway over it before Joseph stops him and issues a more specific directive.

After around 10 minutes, all three subjects report separately to Joseph that they lack the necessary authority to rescind Harmony's suspension, and that Joseph requires the aid of the Director of Student Correction. This man, subject D, is not due to arrive to work for another half an hour that day. Joseph asks subjects A, B, and C to go about their usual tasks in the meantime. He sits in a chair by the door on his phone, and waits.

When D arrives, Joseph greets him politely and is invited into D's office. To summarize the audio captured by a security camera as well as pulled from D's digital assistant, subject D is unwilling to help Joseph or show his sister any kind of leniency, and does not speak kindly of the girl to her older brother. Joseph attempts to use his ability on subject D.

He fails.

As Joseph tries again and again to subvert subject D's will, his grip on those he controls outside begins to distort. B and C burst into the office and begin screaming at D to do as Joseph asks, both of them appearing completely unhinged. As Joseph tries to sort out his thoughts and regain control of the situation, subject A enters the room as well, and when a frightened and confused D shouts "No!" a final time, the three controlled subjects launch themselves at subject D.

Joseph, in a panic, sends a full force directive containing nothing but the word STOP. All three school employees under Joseph's control fall unconscious before they can harm the office director. Joseph flees the scene at this point; he had surrendered himself by 6pm that same day to his local BIA office. One of the controlled individuals would later awaken with permanent memory loss of the entire day and previous evening. The other two recalled the incident vaguely, as if it had all been a hazy dream.

Been all over the place dealing with my own problems but seems I haven't missed much. I assume we are maintaining an order for posting so I'll be waiting.

Chesh has been dealing with some stuff, but I'm pretty sure the new IC post is coming sooner rather than later.

Hello, I saw that you were still recruiting and I didn't see anyone with a healing ability. I'm not sure how to explain it though as I'm borrowing the idea from a book I read. It isn't magical in nature, but the book didn't really explain the science behind some of the abilities.

So the character had the ability to Absorb injuries. Like one character's arm was broken and with just a touch the arm wasn't. But they didn't just make the injury vanish, they were stored so that the injury could be applied to someone else They could even use the ability on themselves. The ability had some weaknesses of course, given the versatility. The person wasn't superhuman beyond the healing. No speed or strength, or even increased stamina. It couldn't get rid of anything that wasn't an injury and it couldn't bring back the dead. So amputations couldn't be restored. The other caveat was that it had to be skin to skin contact.

Of course, in the book, the character was able to near instantly absorb and transfer injuries within seconds and just a brush of their fingertips. That was after having the power since they were a small child. In this I'm happy to have to hold position for longer than a few seconds to use the abilities.

Alias: Blindfold (Note: This is what Dr. Requirem likes to refer to him as, because his eyes are damaged and have to be covered by a strip of cloth.)

I really don't care, it was a joke. I was just checking back on this thread.
