The Awakening (GreyQueen & Darklaz)

"I wonder who that is?" Sara murmured, leaning close to look at the picture. The edges were foxed a bit from age and even had a small part on the edge that rubbed away from being held there. "I mean it's Gramps...but who is he holding? Can you turn it over? Maybe he wrote a name on the back?"

Sara blinked in confusion. That sounded so familiar to her... Gramps had always called her something like that. Then it hit her, "That... that has to be... me. But..." she frowned, unsure of what was going on anymore, "I never seen this picture before.."

"What do you mean?" Sara questioned as she looked up from her concentration on the photo, "How do I see you? I mean...if I were to be frank, you're...pretty much straight from a movie you are. Th....beings like you aren't exactly commonplace in the world. Heck, I can hardly believe that this isn't some...weird dream or, worse, I've lost my marbles under all the stress of my job."

She shrugged as she stepped away, suddenly very aware of how close she had been to him as he moved to sit on the hardened lump of clay. His handsome features up close truly pulled her in. "What were you expecting? If you don't mind me asking, of course."

"I suppose I see how that can be confusing." Sara nodded, though she blushed at the special comment. "It's not so bad to be different. We're all different in at least some regards. That's just how life is. Gramps probably knew that more rayan anyone. He was always the odd one. We loved him, but he wasn't always sane...though now I see how we were mistaken about him..."

She reached out and touched his cheek with care, "We'll figure out how Gramps was trying to...make you alive. I promise."

Sara's emerald eyes widened and she almost stumbled backwards if not for his hold on her hand. "W-whoa now. L-listen, you and I...w-we just met! Y-you can't me all 'you're mine to keep'! B-besides the fact that you... it's just...I mean..." Her words were starting to get jumbled in her head and she tried to figure out how she suddenly found herself in such a situation. "Acheron...Y-you should just go around saying such things. I don't know what they mean to you, but...it's not something you just...say to someone you just met!"

"I-I think you're confused." Sara shook her head, pulling back her hand, "I am human. You're...you're not. That's just how it is." She awkwardly shifted her weight around, unsure of how to react to such information. "Maybe it's just a said effect of waking up? Yeah, that's probably it!" There was no way that he felt like....that towards her! She just met him!

Sara shifted nervously as she watched him, feeling suddenly hyper aware of all of his movements. She took his place on the dried clay and rubbed her arms. "Listen...I'm not sure either...but how about we just take a second and...Nestlings, those are like...children, right? So...it's not parental... Kinship? Like family maybe?"

A need arose in her to reach out a hand to stop the winged man. His skin, still strangely appealing beneath her touch. Getting up, she gently touched his cheek. "Whatever these feelings are...I will give you my word that I'll figure out what Gramps was trying to do and help you. Everything else will sort itself out." Strangely, the red head felt calm and assured of even her own words as she subconsciously leaned in closer. "I'll be right here for you."

Acheron paused and allowed her next to him. It felt ... right. He flexed his wings before wrapping them protectively around her. This was his primary purpose, to protect his maker's heir.

Yet, there was that strange bond they had. He was more strongly drawn to her than any of the rest of the family.

"I am always here for you and will not allow harm to come near. The answers will be found. He was meticulous with notes." He assured her.

Sara nodded and laid her head on his shoulder. The way his wings wrapped around her, lulled her to let her guard down from her earlier reaction. "Thank you...." she murmured. Straightening up, she blushed until the tips of her ears tented red. "Right. Okay, let's, uhm, get to looking at that journal."

She stepped back, gently pulling away from the comfort of his wings. Sara held out her hand for the journal. "Let's see what we can do!"

"Frighten isn't the word for it," Sara admitted as she rubbed the back of her head, "It's...it's more like I become unsure of myself. I mean...I used to thinking that stones coming to life were fairytales. You are...very sweet. I just..get nervous when dealing with someone... like you. You're rather...handsome..."

"W-whoa" She squeaked at his words, but found herself reaching out to him. "U-um, alright..." Sara didn't know what she was getting into with the gargoyles man, but she assumed that she'd be safe no matter what. "Alright...I'm trusting you now, you know..."
