@Laughingstokk, I actually like your thermal regulator and found his narrative interesting. If you'd like, I think I can undelete that post using my mad Moderator POWAHZ. I can, at very least, copy and forward the text to you in a PM for you to repost if you like.

Sorry, sorry, I've also been super busy, I just got delegated ANOTHER title at work and I had to spend ONE night downloading tax forms and emailing about contact sheets and fecking registration forms, and then another night making bundles and reading our collective ag-IT SUCKED ... but I'mma be able to devote some brain soon. I do apologize for the wait, and nothing in the post bothered me. I'm a rather graphic RPer most of the time, this is just a project I wanted to keep smut-free as far as like ... plot purpose.
Like, I didn't want the plot to centre around smut.

I'm glad to hear it. No worries on the subject of the wait. I was only worried all my misunderstanding of the setting coupled with unnecessary violence had annoyed you into abandoning the rp lol. Which I would have been sad about, because I can't wait for it to start. So carry on, ignore my insecurities lol. Hope your title change came with a raise too
First Name: Whitney Middle Name: Jordan Last Name: Lanier Date of birth: May 4th Birthplace: New York City Registration Status: Registered Power/s: Wormhole/Portal Creation
While the physics of it give scientists migraines, Whitney has the ability to open distinct holes in realty, connecting two places that she can clearly perceive. Once the hole is opened, objects can freely pass through the holes, traveling from one place to another without crossing the intervening space. Her ability works very much like the 'Portal Gun' from the Portal series of video games. Fans are waiting on Portal 5, after Portal 4's release in 2034. Objects passing through the portals keep their momentum. If a portal is opened under someone, they can fall through it. Opening a portal to somewhere with a wildly different pressure variance will cause matter to move rapidly through the portals to try to equalize the pressure.
Weakness/es: Outside of her portal creation, she has no inhuman defenses or healing abilities. Portals can only be formed on solid surfaces, not in mid air, and not anywhere she cannot perceive in real time. While she can create portals through camera feeds, they have to be live feeds. Recordings don't seem to work. Also, Whitney is a good and decent person. She generally wants to help people, which leads her to make decisions one might consider naïve or self sacrificing. Distinguishing Marks: While her bright blue hair could be mistaken for a dye job, the glowing blue eyes clearly mark her as an inhuman. Portals she creates are ringed with the same blue hue as her hair and eyes.
Whitney had a fairly middle class upbringing. Dad's a construction worker, Mom's a nurse. They encouraged her public justice streak, supporting her in protesting for justice and more equitable distribution of wealth, even bailing her out of jail a few times after getting rounded up with other protestors. She wasn't ever a violent protestor, but did believe in civil disobedience and even a bit of nuisance sabotage/vandalism. Intending to go to medical school and having graduated with high honors and a PreMed degree, she instead took time away from school to be an EMT, wanting to experience the raw reality of people in crisis without the shield of an MD by her name. Her emergence happened during a double-shift. The patient was coding and wasn't going to make it. They were 10 minutes away from an ER and the patient had maybe 5 minutes. Cursing and banging her fist against the ambulance, she wished they could get him to the Trauma center off Washington. The side of the ambulance rippled before a hole appeared in it's side. On the other side was the trauma center. After a moment of shock, she grabbed the patient and wheeled him into the trauma center, screaming for a doctor.
She was immediately arrested, but the patient survived. She's never been able to create a 'blind' portal since, although the experts think it should be possible and suspect she might be faking the inability.
Initiating Incident:
"Check the video from the bus!" Whitney cried, chains around her wrist rattling. "I didn't have any sort of powers until I did. I wasn't hiding anything. Look at me, there was a physical change. I'm not faking it."
"That remains to be seen, Ms. Lanier. We're questioning your parents as well. We'll see if their story corroborates yours." Agent Lancaster glanced down at his notes, "Looks like you've had some run-ins with the law. 7 arrests by my count."
"2... wait, 7? My juvenile records are supposed..." She sighed and leaned back in her seat, "I'm an inhuman now. I get it. No rights, no privacy. So yeah, I've been a protestor. I'm sure that makes you feel warm and fuzzy. I've never hurt anyone."
"Not that's in your jacket in any case," The agent commented idly. "But there are... 3 instances of trespassing. Like going where you don't belong?"
"I wouldn't say so. I would say I went where I needed to." She shrugged, "I understand how that's not too reassuring, but I'm not a bad guy. I want to make things better, and this thing... these portals I can make. Think of what I could do. Travel without time. With practice, I think I could revolutionize emergency medical response. I could deliver..."
"Untraceable packages anywhere in the world at any time. Yes, Imagine what they could be used for." The agent's voice was cold and distant, causing Whitney to sink back into her seat.
"I'm not a bad guy...." was all she could say in response.
Sorry for being MIA most of this week and weekend, is been a weird time. I have a few errands to run, but then I'mma sit down and get my profile and whatnot typed out. I'd also like some feedback on how we start;
In my imaginings, since this isn't purely an action RP, we would start at the very slow beginning; characters being pulled from their cells and interviewed, offered the spot on the team, being introduced to their costume and "hero persona" as designed by the BIA for maximum public approval.
Characters have probably been chilling their heels in inhuman jail for a few weeks, which is more akin to a normal prison full of heavily armed guards who won't think twice about killing you. The prison IS designed with inhuman containment in mind, but technology isn't much better than it is today, and with most inhumans considered disposable under the law, it's more worthwhile using a 90 cent bullet to stop someone than a something-something-million-dollar storage system.
As for characters, everyone is awesome! @Beppen Love the concept, the powers are cool ^_^ @Laughingstokk I like him, he's dynamic, and I like the built in power regulation ^_^ @Baxter Peters Love her!
... Alright, I will have my character concept finalized and up soonish, later today hopefully!

No worries. I've had a couple of weird days myself. The planets are off, yknow?
I'm all about a slow burn. I'm not a fan of RP's that start too heavy too quick and then have nowhere to go. (Or stories in general, for that matter. Something I picked up from acting class.) I think that format for starting is perfect. I can see the political teams coming up with something Nathan hates because it's too on the nose. "Thermo" or "Cold Front." And he has a whole argument and in the end it's like "Look, I'm cool with the superhero stuff. I was already doing that. I love comic books. You have no idea how on board I am right now. But I am not wearing those tights, and I'm not having anyone refer to me as 'Thermo.' I want a Robin mask and a leather jacket. You can call me 'Carnot.'"
"What? Why that?"
"Sadi Carnot. Discovered the laws of Thermodynamics. I can make things hot or cold." Said Nathan as if this were obvious.
"Yeah, see, no one's going to know what the fuck that means."
"But it's clever! And mysterious! You guys picked the first thing you thought of when someone said 'Hot Cold.'"
"Yeah, so that the public thinks you're fun and quirky when you melt a car, moron."
First Name: Mackenzie Middle Name: N/A Last Name: Jensen Date of birth: Oct 15th, 2013 Birthplace: Madras, Oregon Registration Status: Public Discovery Power/s:Superhuman Speed - Mackenzie's body, her cells, her entire physical makeup, is out of sync with normal space-time, allowing her to slip into parallel flows of time at will, effectively granting the ability to move and act almost instantaneously. Tests have revealed that the physical effects of this hyper-acceleration are, for the most part, one way; If Mackenzie flicks a brick wall while operating at superspeed, her finger experiences a normal flick, but the wall experiences an exponentially stronger force over the same area. While running or walking, she is able to carry her momentum onto a surface, into a jump, or put it into a throw, among other things. Tests are ongoing. Superfast Nature - Kenzie enjoys significantly boosted reflexes, coordination, and agility because of the nature of her powers. Weakness/es: Kenzie is still essentially human, and doesn't spend every conscious moment in slow time, or "sliptime" as she likes to call it. She can still be caught off guard, surprised, distracted, incapacitated, rendered unconscious, trapped, injured, poisoned, or any number of other things.
Mackenzie, like most kids in Madras, grew up middle-poor. Her mother was a night manager at a local hotel. The work was steady, but she always put in more than she got back. Her father was a heavy duty mechanic who made good money, but the work came with the logging season, and the stretches in between were long. He would fill the time drinking and taking on home repair projects, though not frequently at the same time. They fought, especially when money ran thin, and it always ran thin.
Kenzie grew up without having the newest stuff, the coolest stuff, the things she may have wanted. She developed hobbies that didn't need a lot of financial upkeep, things she could do with her poor friends around town. Thankfully the forests were deep and the trails secluded, and she could escape when she needed to. In school she ran the line between athlete and troublemaker. She was the only girl in highschool who attended both the smoke pit and track meets, frequently seen in a thrift-store leather jacket and heavy-handed eyeliner still wearing her running shorts from practice during the first half of lunch. What teen girl needs food? Her powers developed in sophomore year, showing in small ways that she didn't notice; moments stretching out for hours when she was concentrating, stressful moments suddenly slowing down before her eyes only to speed back up again. She thought she was going crazy, she thought the stress of going out into a big world that she wasn't prepared for was already getting to her ... she was wrong.
Initiating Incident:
May 23rd, 2031, 10:04AM, Madras High school. Mackenzie was trying not to think about how much she wanted her coat as she stood on the starting line, trying not to look over at her parents. Shaking out her legs, eyes on her sneakers as she sniffled away moisture brought on by the cold, her fists were balled and pressed to her hips. Don't look at anyone, don't think about anyone, it's just you and the track, speed against time she thought, taking a deep breath as she leaned into a stretch. She could feel eyes on her. She didn't care. She just wanted to run, just wanted to feel the grit pounding beneath her feet. Her stare flicked to the ref as he called the ready. Hiking up her shorts at the hip, she lowered herself into position, drawing her fingers back from the line and lining up her feet, pressing in to give herself some grip on take-off.
She risked a glance down the line. Girls from schools across the district had come to compete. Girls with times almost as good as hers. She had a lot to prove today, to herself and to her team. She offered an unladylike spit into the sand, her long braid falling over her shoulder as she rose up, ready to run.
The crowd, chattering and gabbing, fell silent as the ref lifted the starting gun.
Kenzie swallowed and turned her stare down the track.
The shot sounded. The runners leapt forward, Kenzie behind the taller girls almost immediately ... but that wasn't abnormal. The crowd exploded into cheering. 400m to go. Kenzie bore down, legs almost a blur as she gained and gained, pushing forward into the pack, pushing past it, braid whipping at her back, urging her forward. Her heart was pounding in her ears, faster, and faster. The other sounds faded out, the other runners fell away, and it was just her, the cold morning air on her face, and the finish line ahead. She felt like she was flying, like she was the wind, like she could OUTRUN the wind. She crossed the finish line with her arms stretched out behind her, hooting and cheering her own accolades as the silence hung in the air around her. She trotted to a stop, arms raised in victory, and finally turned to her parents with a wide smile on her face.
Her parents were just staring. Everyone was just staring. Even the other runners, staring from where they'd stopped almost 300 metres back. What was going on? Had she done something wrong? Why was everyone staring? Why did she feel so weird? The pain in her ears was her first indication, the cold on her skin another. Fluttering scraps of fabric drew her eyes to where her uniform was laying in shreds as her hand found the blood running down the side of her neck, down either side of her neck.
Falling to her knees, trying to cover her underarmour as her face clenched and turned red, she just wanted to disappear. This was worse than being crazy. Her parents came over, her mother first, her father more slowly. She had tissue from her purse for Kenzie's ears, and soft words to soothe her tearful daughter. Her father draped his flannel around her and stood her up, staring solemnly into the crowd as people began to stop filming, began to dial their local BIA office.
Her mother had tucked her into a hot back and bandaged her ears as best she could upon their return home, but it was short lived. HCOs swarmed the house just an hour after the game, moments after her father calmly came in and led her mother out of the house. Kenzie was half expecting it, pulling meekly into her robe as the officers stormed in and tased her unconscious.
I ... am very sorry that took so long. It's been a hell of a week, and I only decided to FULLY retcon once I had my first idea all written out ^_^
I was just starting to feel like ... this wasn't a 'starfire' kind of setting. I'm open to feedback tho ^_^
NOW! PLOTS! I will start us off (I will have to do that tomorrow cause is bed time), and we're going to be in a large BIA holding facility in ... Texas. The facility isn't anything special, but it's got a few differences compared to a normal prison. No two prisoners are held together, exercise time is supervised, and inhumans with similar powers are kept in wings together to minimize risk, though there are algorithms to keep complimentary power-holders apart.
Characters are going to be brought into a small holding area and made to wait together. This is probably the first unsupervised contact they've had in a while. They will then be taken one by one off to interview, and will be returned to their cells to think about it, though ... it's made clear that life would probably be pretty hard for someone who turned this offer down. I know that's vague, but I hope it gets some ideas going ^_^ Feel free to take a little creative license with the HCOs too, but remember that they're likely going to share a trait;
They disrespect you at best, and hate you at worse. They work for an internally supervised military police organization that shows open hostility toward inhumans, so you can imagine the kind of people they would hire, and how those people would act when only being supervised and kept in line by other people of the same mindset.
The people who are creating the team are NOT from the BIA, they are from the pentagon, and the team is NOT the UN team, that's different. The pentagon is involved because it wants to take pressure off the military, who have been stepping in whenever a supervillain gets out of hand. This FIRST interview is going to be with a recruiter and a psychologist who will ask all kinds of prying questions and try to get you to act out, or act poorly. This is a pass/fail, push your buttons and see if you bite kind of thing. They already know what you can do, so they want to make sure you aren't a psychopath in person.
... am tired, and rambling, but I hope that makes some kind of sense. NINIPEOPLE!
I have plenty of ideas regarding my character's holding facility as well as the conversation with the agents. Just let us all know when the thread's up so we can give you our works lol
So it's pretty much only a standard cell because he's a case of good behavior but since he also didn't report himself at first I was thinking he might be in an oversized cell in a straight jacket and has to be fed. The cell is so large he'd not be able to effect anything with his abilities due to their limited range. It'd be something the facility likely had built anyways for size-related mutations or uncontrollable explosive powers. As for the facility itself I wondered if you'd be open to the idea of it being a Deep Underground Military Base (DUMB) as if you were going to house a bunch of dangerous super humans using solid earth to stop them breaking out is cheaper than building walls.
Nathan would act like they're overreacting with the extra restraints on him, as he hasn't resisted arrest at all since being caught.
Alright, I slept for 12 hours and feel slightly alive again! I have been working on setting material, and will be blitzing the RP forum today to get the thread up and migrate characters over. I do already have my ideas about the prison facility, which will become evident once the thread goes up.
*blushes* Thank you >,< That means a lot to me! I'm sorry I'm difficult about it tho, and tend to give details in little episodic bits instead of just ... black and white text. Black and white is hard for me, so I'm super appreciative of the compliment ^_^ Is also what took so long, tho I do welcome ideas for worldbuilding, and am fully open to editing, I just ... wanted to give you all something to work with! U w U
